Job Summary

Toptal is looking for an experienced finance and/or business Senior Editor to help our Finance Blog grow as a premier publication for our world-class consultants; our clients, which range from startups to Fortune 500 companies; and other industry experts. The Senior Editor will work with colleagues on the Finance Blog team to develop and execute our content strategy and will collaborate closely with the Toptal network’s world-class experts to craft top-caliber articles. The Senior Editor will also be responsible for generating ideas and editing finance, business, and management consulting stories on a wide range of topics, shepherding the articles from inception to publication and beyond. Responsibilities:

The Senior Editor will work with the Finance Blog team and Toptal network experts to develop and edit world-class articles on business and finance topics. They will build relationships with leading finance, business, and management consulting experts in the Toptal network to showcase the expertise of these consultants in stories that align with Toptal goals. Following Toptal’s publishing processes, they will collaborate closely with designers, copy editors, and top editors to ensure that all pieces published feature clear, concise thinking and accurate, compelling visuals. They will also contribute to the creation of other, Finance and business-related marketing materials, as needed. To ensure the quality and timeliness of our content, the Senior Editor will also track relevant trends and practices in the field by staying engaged with leading news sources and publications in the industry and will be prepared to discuss their findings and analysis with the team as needed. The Senior Editor will contribute to other high-profile editorial projects, as well.

In the first week, expect to:· Onboard onto the Content Marketing team by working closely with the suite of resources available to you.· Meet the rest of the Finance Blog team as well as key members of other teams you will be working with.· Learn about Toptal’s Finance Blog offerings and understand the publication’s voice and approach.

In the first month, expect to:· Learn what an A+ Toptal Finance article looks like and how to ensure that all pieces published meet this quality bar.· Be an active participant in team meetings.· Build familiarity with Toptal’s network of world-class experts/article authors.· Work with top finance experts from around the world to help them develop their ideas for in-depth articles on the most important concepts and trends in finance.· Gain a deep familiarity with Toptal’s unique publishing processes.

In the first three months, expect to:· Prepare and publish several world-class articles.· Develop a routine for staying on the cutting-edge of industry trends, providing intelligence to our team on your particular areas of expertise as needed.· Contribute to planning and execution of SEO and distribution strategies.

In the first six months, expect to:· Help to scale up the cadence and visibility of the Finance publications.· Develop, maintain, and build a healthy stable of network talent to draw upon for ideas, research, and articles.· Generate as well as execute finance/business stories.

In the first year, expect to:· Continue your robust publishing schedule.· Support a full-fledged publication, consistently working to improve the quality and impact of your articles and other projects via partnerships and assets across Toptal as requested (PR, events, community, etc).

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree is required.· Minimum 7+ years of editing/writing experience, working on finance-, business-, and/or management consulting-related topics. A journalism background is a major plus.· Solid understanding of key events and trends across multiple industries at the top of the business strategy world.· Experience with and enjoyment of working very closely with industry experts to ideate and create groundbreaking articles.· Experience interviewing technical specialists and the ability to quickly understand and clearly explain sophisticated concepts.· Superlative verbal and written communication skills, as well as a keen ear for individual authorial voices.· Obsessive attention to detail.· Sharp eye for quality and a relentless drive to improve.· Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines without sacrificing excellence.· Positive, solutions-oriented attitude.· Ability to build and scale in a fast-growing company with a focus on execution.· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.· Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company and handle a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a diverse array of contacts.· You must be a world-class individual contributor to thrive at Toptal. Essential Job Functions

US FLSA Classification: Full-Time/Exempt

The US-based salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 - $120,000 per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.__Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Please note that the US-based salary range does not include the value of Toptal’s benefit offerings.
