Job description

 

SBA BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER III  

Location - Remote

  

SUMMARY: Responsible for sourcing well qualified SBA 7(a) and 504 loan opportunities and deposit relationships in Florida and Texas through internal and external calling efforts. Gathers loan documentation and screens request to determine whether the loan is SBA eligible and meets Bank’s credit criteria. Works with credit department to prepare loan package and assists SBA Loan Administrator with closing. Serves as client interface with Bank and assists in post-closing client servicing needs.  

  

JOB FUNCTIONS:  

· Focus on the origination and submission of SBA loan requests and deposit relationships through internal and external sources in accordance with Bank and SBA guidelines.  

· Organized prospecting and networking both internally and externally. Establish strong referral network and relationships with commercial real estate brokers, business brokers, loan brokers, CPAs, accountants, lawyers, etc. to solicit new SBA loan opportunities.  

· Participate in local trade and business/professional associations to increase market awareness of the Bank’s SBA loan programs.  

· Provide training to banking center partners and lenders - participate in joint client calls.  

· Stay informed of all SOP 5010(H) eligibility guidelines. Verifying/Insuring SBA eligibility. Become a front-end resource to all referral sources in the markets served.   

· Gather loan documentation including business and personal financials, submits file to credit and work with clients and team members throughout the application and closing process.  

· Obtain and submit complete financial packages. Structure appropriate loan based on client’s needs. Meet personally on-site with guarantors/borrowers before submission.   

· Pre-screen/qualify or dis-qualify new loan requests.  Develop an understanding of the credit risk and be able to properly evaluate and disclose risk in a relationship.   

· Review and analyze financial statements. Complete upfront basic cash flow and collateral analysis; assist the credit analysis with the underwriting process.  

· Present loans to senior credit officers and/or loan committees.  

· Work with client, SBA Loan Administrator, credit and other areas of Bank to close and service loans.  

  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND KEY QUALIFICATIONS:  

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other business-related field, or equivalent college degree preferred.  

· In depth knowledge of SBA 7(a) and 504 loan program guidelines / SOP.  

· Knowledgeable in SBA underwriting, general closing legal/documentation guidelines, financial institution operating policies and procedures, and state and federal banking regulations.  

· Unconditional commitment to meet production and prospecting goals   

· 5-7 years sales experience in SBA lending with a proven track record of prospecting and closing new business – Strong desire and commitment with consultative sales process   

· Experience with credit assessment and qualifying  

· Follows a written sales process   

· Strong organizational skills, time management and attention to detail.   

· Ability to prioritize   

· Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.  

· Understands the importance of referral source updates and internal relationships. Polite, courteous, and respectful to all clients and Bank associates.  

· Willing to continue to develop and grow current skill sets   

· Internally motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision  

· Strong follow-up and closing skills  

· Professional  

· Accepts full responsibility for all actions including deal quality   

· Willing to travel
