Position Overview

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing Revenue, Inventory accounting and some of the GL team and the related month-end close and reconciliation processes.  Additionally, the Accounting Manager is responsible for audit coordination and oversight with the Company’s external auditors. This position reports to the Director of Accounting and partners closely with other functional areas throughout the company to ensure proper financial reporting and relevant support of Company business initiatives.  The position is fully remote and if located in San Diego can go into the office on occasion. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the month-end close and reporting process overseeing Revenue, Inventory and other areas of Operating expenses
  • Prepare analysis and accounting impacts on the Company of new Company projects and initiatives 
  • Supervise and mentor a Sr Accountant overseeing Inventory and also some of the GL team
  • Supervise staff in the preparation and review of account reconciliations and other relevant schedules; prepare, review and approve journal entries
  • Responsible for preparing month-end financial reporting and variance analysis (comparison to AOP, prior year, trend, etc.)
  • Support and manage development of system improvements and enhancements (e.g. manage the team re:  development of business and functional requirements, UAT and post-launch issue resolution)
  • Partner with management in the Company’s warehouse to improve processes and provide accounting support of business and warehouse-specific initiatives
  • Improve the accuracy of journal entries and accruals
  • Maintain a business improvement mindset in order to create efficiencies and streamline accounting processes

Education & Experience

  • BA Business, Accounting or related field required
  • CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of general accounting experience required; experience in a public company and/or in public accounting desired
  • 3+ years’ supervisory experience including a demonstrated ability to delegate, provide guidance and develop a team
  • Experience with large ERP systems required; Oracle preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, CPA preferred
  • High integrity, strong technical accounting and analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel skills 
  • Well organized with ability to perform multiple tasks and work with other functional areas of the organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided per CA SB 1162 (“CA Pay Transparency Law”).
