We now have an exciting opportunity for a home-based experienced dual qualified chartered building and insurance professional to join our industry recognised Expert Services team, within our award-winning Subsidence Services Division. Working as part of a dedicated team, handling complex and large losses your role will include, but not exclusively, the following activities:

  • Desk top reviews and one-off reporting
  • Full ‘cradle-to-grave’ management of complex subsidence losses
  • Complaint reviews and dispute resolution service
  • Second opinions on technical aspects
  • Independent audit facility
  • Training of internal & external staff
  • Expert witness
  • Client relationship activities and promotion of service

The role will involve the highest level of expertise, in all areas; customer service, building and insurance. You will be handling both commercial and domestic claims, the majority over £100k in value. You will supplement the existing team, consisting of Building Consultants and Claims Technicians, reporting to our National Engineering Manager.  Due the nature of the work and team size, you need to be willing to travel and be flexible in your working hours. 

You will have:

  • Appropriate chartered status e.g. MCIOB, MRICS, MICE and an insurance qualification Dip CILA/ CII or above.
  • Enthusiastic, professional and positive attitude.
  • A detailed knowledge of structural defects affecting buildings.
  • The ability to diagnose the cause of damage to domestic and commercial buildings.
  • An understanding and knowledge of repair techniques to damaged buildings and their drainage, particularly in respect of subsidence damage.
  • The ability to be decisive in resolving matters, an appreciation of the importance of delivering outstanding customer service, and excellent communication and empathy skills.
  • A good working knowledge of IT and most Microsoft packages.
  • An ability to present and train others both internally and external client staff.
  • The ability to work in a home-based role but closely with a remote team of technical and support staff, as well as manage and plan your own workload whilst delivering professional advice to both claimants and insurers.
  • Be regarded as a leading expert in subsidence claims handling.
  • Frequent travel to visit claimants.
  • A full UK driving licence.
