US indirect tax compliance leader – Snr. Director level
World Kinect Corporation is a dynamic and rapidly growing organization dedicated to delivering innovative solutions to our clients. As a leader in our industry, we understand the importance of staying compliant with tax regulations. We are seeking an experienced US Indirect Tax Compliance Snr. Director to lead our strategic US tax compliance efforts and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of our global indirect tax filings in an efficient matter.
You shall be responsible and overseeing the global indirect tax compliance team of + 30 people in charge of a large volume of indirect tax reporting requirements such as sales tax, gross receipt tax, jet fuel tax, fuel tax, motor fuel tax, Mineral Oil Taxes, GST, HST, VAT, etc.
The role will provide operational, as well as strategic direction, and day to day leadership to all our global indirect tax compliance activities.
The successful candidate will lead scalability and efficiency efforts and ensure best practices and tools are in place for efficient, timely and accurate reporting. The role shall be highly focused on developing and implementing an overall process and reporting risk mitigation strategy supported by the implementation and roll out of an effective and risk-based control framework.
Key responsibilities
Global indirect tax compliance strategy development: develop and implement strategies to optimize indirect tax compliance, ensuring the organization's tax liability is minimized while remaining compliant with all tax regulations.
Compliance operating model development: POV development of our future operating indirect tax compliance model as well as the centralization, standardization and optimization of our end-to-end indirect tax compliance processes. This includes the implementation of guidelines and policies to ensure a consistent, compliant and risk-based approach to our indirect tax compliance processes and data environment.
Regulatory Adherence: stay informed about changes in indirect tax regulations at the federal, state, and local levels, and adapt our compliance strategies and procedures accordingly.
Team Leadership: build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of indirect tax compliance professionals. Provide guidance, support, and training to ensure the team's success in meeting compliance objectives.
Technology Integration: evaluate, select, and implement tax technology solutions to streamline and enhance the indirect tax compliance process.
Process Improvement: continuously assess and optimize tax compliance processes to increase efficiency and accuracy while maintaining a strong control environment.
Reporting: prepare and present regular reports on indirect tax compliance to senior management, highlighting key findings, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement
Risk management: risk management of the end- to-end indirect tax compliance processes and the development of an effective indirect tax control framework
Key requirements
- Previous US and/or global senior leadership experience in a large multinational company. Ideally with expertise in the energy sector.
- + 12 years of relevant professional experience in tax, finance, risk management, compliance and/or tax governance.
- Strong knowledge of US federal, state, and local indirect tax regulation applicable in the energy sector
- Experience with deploying and implementing indirect taxes technology solutions (IT skillsets) and best practice tools (i.e. dashboard, analytics, RPA’s, reporting tools, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in successfully implementing tax governance and control frameworks.
- Problem solver, who can resolve issues effectively and creatively while maintaining a high level of flexibility, professionalism, and integrity.
