Network Engineer

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. As a System Engineer, you will play a critical role in both our operational and project teams, contributing to the stability and development of our network infrastructure. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and become a technical leader in your areas of expertise.

Key Activities:

Initially, you will be an integral part of our operational team, where your responsibilities will include:

• Investigating incidents reported by users or team members, diagnosing and resolving technical issues promptly.
• Investigating monitoring incidents and problems, ensuring the continuous optimization of our network.

After a few weeks, depending on your ability to absorb knowledge about the environment, you will transition to our project team under the supervision of the project leader and technical lead. In this role, you will actively participate in project activities and eventually lead projects related to your expertise domains.

Profile - The ideal candidate for the System Engineer position should have the following qualifications and skills: - A thorough understanding of the TCP/IP stack and networking protocols, including STP, OSPF, VRRP/HSRP, CDP/LDP, BGP, and dot1q. - Proficiency in DNS, DHCP, HTTP(s), and SNMP. - Experience with stateful firewall L4 policies. - Understanding of/experience with at least 2 of the following areas of expertise: - Quality of Service (QoS) - Multicast - MPLS L3 VPN - Overlay networking - Scripting languages such as Bash or Python - VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL) - Network Access Control (NAC) using RADIUS/dot1x - Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) - Network monitoring tools (SNMP, Cacti, OpenNMS, etc.) - Linux, scripting, and automation skills (Bash, Python, Ansible, SQL, GIT) - Virtualization experience with VMWare, ProxMox, KVM, or LXC - Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN), including Cisco DNA or Cisco ACI - Knowledge about/experience with at least two of the following vendors (certification is a plus): - Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/NXOS (required) - Juniper Junos - Fortinet FortiOS - Palo Alto PanOS - F5 TMOS - Infoblox DD - Strong language skills: Dutch AND English are required to effectively communicate with our diverse team and stakeholders.
