In-house lawyer – Financing LEGAL Platform

What will your daily life look like?

You will join the Financing LEGAL team within BNP Paribas.

You will work closely with the commercial teams and clients of Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB), particularly covering international financing transactions of the Global Banking team of BNP Paribas.

You will have regular contact with front, middle and agency teams, restructuring and dispute resolution teams, as well as other internal functions of the Bank and you will attend credit committees when required. You will play an active role throughout all stages of a file, from the initial structuring of transactions to negotiating financing and security documents, as well as managing external counsel and resolving default and insolvency scenarios, often in a multi-jurisdictional context. You will work autonomously as BNP Paribas’ legal counsel on your transactions, while liaising with your management and other team members to ensure alignment on key issues. You will also be involved in shaping legal strategies, following relevant legal and regulatory developments and providing in-house legal training.

You will be encouraged to diversify your experience over time by supporting different Financing business lines, Financing products and geographical zones and participating in transversal projects, in line with the strategic objectives of the Financing LEGAL team.

Your working environment is important!

You will become a member of the Financing LEGAL platform – a team of more than 200 lawyers worldwide at the heart of the Bank’s internal legal service, supporting BNP Paribas’ corporate lending and trade finance activities globally. Your immediate team is composed of dynamic lawyers from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds, practising English or French law.

The role is currently located in the second arrondissement of Paris, with the possibility of up to 50% remote working in line with BNP Paribas group policy.

Why join BNP Paribas?

So what about you? Are you our future In-house lawyer – Financing LEGAL Platform?

As a graduate holding an English law degree or a Master 2 in banking and financial law and/or international private law in France you should have at least five years’ recent and active experience as a lawyer in an international law firm or international bank working in structured lending transactions so that you will be immediately operational in this position.

You are fluent in French and English (written and oral).

In addition to your excellent communication, negotiation and drafting skills, you have a good knowledge of LMA-style documentation and market trends in the loan market. You are also interested in new developments, both in the law (regularly following relevant legal developments) and in how legal services are delivered, training and creating a strong partnership with internal clients.

You will need to be autonomous, dynamic, rigorous and commercially minded, and be able to manage your time and workload effectively. You will also need to be adaptable and able to work as part of a team as part of your role.

It is of paramount importance that our future employees act in an ethical and professional manner in their daily work.
