Job description

About the Clinical Content Lead at Headspace:

Headspace has always been a leader in making mental health support more accessible, starting with meditation and mindfulness. As we evolve into end-to-end mental health care, clinically backed content is becoming an even more integral part of how we support our members.

Our journey into evidenced based, clinically informed programs is already underway with offerings like our Guided Sleep Program (rooted in CBT-I) and our CBT for Depression and Anxiety guided program. But this is just the beginning. As we expand our platform, we are deepening our commitment to blending clinical expertise with engaging, easy-to-adopt content that helps people make meaningful, lasting changes in their mental well-being.

As the Clinical Content Lead, you will drive the strategy and execution of Headspace’s clinically backed content, ensuring mental health tools into our member experience. Reporting to the VP of Content Creation, you will partner closely with product, clinical, and research teams to develop content that translates evidence-based mental health tools into engaging, accessible, and impactful experiences for our members.

This role requires deep expertise in mental health, psychology, or behavioral science, combined with a passion for content development and digital health innovation. You will ensure that our clinically informed content is not only scientifically sound but also seamlessly integrated into our product experience—helping us build the best tools and pathways to super-serve our members with the right clinical content at the right time. Success in this role will require a strong ability to marry clinical expertise with data-driven optimization—leveraging insights from user engagement, outcomes data, and research to continuously refine and enhance content impact.

What you will do:

  • Own the execution of the clinical content strategy and roadmap in partnership with the VP of Content Creation, setting clear strategic goals and leading production planning to achieve measurable impact.
  • Be a strong partner to the clinical team, identifying white spaces in our clinical content library and developing innovative approaches to better serve our diverse member base.
  • Collaborate with the Headspace Studios production team, Talent, Programming and Audience Development Team to bring your content vision and experiences to life in compelling, engaging formats.
  • Translate and develop complex clinical concepts into engaging, easy-to-understand content across a variety of formats that supports behavior change and mental well-being.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across Product, Marketing, Brand, Lifecycle, Social/PR, and Engineering to ensure clinical content launches are well-supported and aligned with broader company initiatives.
  • Lead cross-function collaboration with Product, Clinical, and Research teams to integrate evidence-based mental health tools into engaging, high-impact content experiences for our members.
  • Define and drive key performance metrics for clinical content initiatives, leveraging engagement data, research insights, and user feedback to measure effectiveness and continuously optimize impact
  • Lead clinical content innovation by establishing best practices, integrating cutting-edge mental health research, and leveraging A/B testing, user feedback, and behavioral science insights to continuously optimize engagement and outcomes.

What you will bring:

Required Skills:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, PsyD, or Master’s) in psychology, clinical mental health, behavioral science, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in content development within digital health, mental health, or well-being industries.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based practices, interventions, and behavior change principles.
  • Familiarity with digital mental health solutions, including meditation, therapy, and coaching content.
  • Experience translating clinical insights into compelling content for consumer audiences.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with an ability to make complex topics engaging and actionable.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, clinical, and research teams.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple content initiatives at different stages of development.

All member records are protected according to our Privacy Policy. Further, while employees of Headspace (formerly Ginger) cannot access Headspace products/services, they will be offered benefits according to the company's benefit plan. To ensure we are adhering to best practice and ethical guidelines in the field of mental health, we take care to avoid dual relationships. A dual relationship occurs when a mental health care provider has a second, significantly different relationship with their client in addition to the traditional client-therapist relationship—including, for example, a managerial relationship.

As such, Headspace requests that individuals who have received coaching or clinical services at Headspace wait until their care with Headspace is complete before applying for a position. If someone with a Headspace account is hired for a position, please note their account will be deactivated and they will not be able to use Headspace services for the duration of their employment.

Further, if Headspace cannot find a role that fails to resolve an ethical issue associated with a dual relationship, Headspace may need to take steps to ensure ethical obligations are being adhered to, including a delayed start date or a potential leave of absence. Such steps would be taken to protect both the former member, as well as any relevant individuals from their care team, from impairment, risk of exploitation, or harm.
