Under supervision, creates and submits filings for insurance departments with routine rules and regulations.  Prepares and submits all necessary filing forms required by each insurance department.   Works with senior team members to analyze routine filing requests received from Actuary, Bonds, and Underwriting for insurance departments with routine rules and regulations. Reviews requests to ensure the accuracy of the information submitted and brings errors to the attention of the appropriate department.  Serves as the primary contact for maintaining the DocNet system for the team.  Coordinates responses to objections from the state on filing submission.

Essential Functions:      

  • Under supervision, creates and submits filings for insurance departments with routine rules and regulations.
  • Composes simple filing letters and memorandums to send to the state to accurately convey intent in each filing.
  • Prepares and submits all necessary filing forms required by each insurance department.
  • Reviews all rate and rule revisions to EMC's Agent, Non-Agent and Supplement manual.
  • Accurately describes and submits these revisions to the state DOI's for review.
  • Calculates and submits appropriate filing fees for each submission based on state laws.
  • Notifies all impacted departments of filing submission, approvals and effective date changes.
  • Works with senior team members to analyze routine filing requests received from Actuary, Bonds, and Underwriting for insurance departments with routine rules and regulations.
  • Reviews requests to ensure the accuracy of the information submitted and brings errors to the attention of the appropriate department.
  • Recommends the appropriate filing action to take with the state DOIs based on the information provided in the filing request and confirms recommendation with senior team members prior to taking action.
  • Prioritizes filing requests received based on knowledge of state review times & priority for EMC.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • One year of insurance industry experience or related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree may be considered in lieu of the insurance industry experience requirement

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • General knowledge of insurance terminology preferred  
  • Good research skills
  • Strong ability to proofread and edit information
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize numerous projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently

The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either the $50,000-$68,000 range or the $55,000-$76,000 range. A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range.  The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
