Director of Architecture – Core Technology

What you will do

In this vital role you will be Director of Architecture – Core Technology responsible for advising on the strategic design and implementation of the company’s Core Technology. This role ensures that the organization’s Core Technology aligns with business objectives, enabling scalability, security, reliability, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in cloud and on-premise environments, strong leadership skills, and a strategic approach to drive transformation, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:
  • Defining and enforcing consistent Core Technology standards across several domains (incl. Cloud, Compute, Storage/Backup, Virtualization, Automation, Network) to ensure reliability, efficiency, and security.
  • Leading transformation by planning and executing the transition to an Infrastructure-as-a-Platform capability, driving automation, scalability, and operational agility.
  • Advancing new capabilities around the AI/ML Model lifecycle, AI/ML Core Technology, and High-Performance Computing (HPC) to meet evolving business needs.
  • Develop standards to meet evolving business needs around new capabilities like AI/ML and High-Performance Computing (HPC).
  • Ensuring Security Alignment – Collaborating closely with Security Architecture to embed security-by-design principles into all Core Technology capabilities.
  • Advising Leadership on Strategy – Providing insights on infrastructure trends, risks, and opportunities to guide decision-making.
  • Increasing efficiency by applying DevSecOps principles throughout the Core Technology lifecycle via automation and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Seamless integration of Core Technology capabilities and processes into broader ecosystems such as Digital Asset Management and Financial Planning.
  • Reducing risk exposure through standardized Core Technology architecture and globally adopted standard processes.
  • Optimizing Costs and Performance – Establishing cost management best practices, including chargeback models, performance tuning, and service reliability.
  • Mentoring and Coaching – Supporting architects and engineers in developing best practices and technical expertise.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Computer Science Or Information Technology experience

Or

Master’s degree and 7 years of Computer Science Or Information Technology experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Computer Science Or Information Technology experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure/Core Technology architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience with road mapping and driving the transition of Infrastructure services into a Platform-as-a Service Core Technology capability
  • Demonstrable experience designing and managing enterprise-level cloud and on-premise Core Technology solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (especially AWS), compute, virtualization, networking, and storage technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Core Technology automation principles and tools, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and DevSecOps practices.
  • Expertise in security standard processes, compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC2), and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of emerging technologies and such as AI/ML.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as finance, healthcare, or government.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
