About the Role (your why)
The Practice Lead – AIOps role is responsible for leading a team of engineers to install, manage, and maintain operating systems and applications focused around our AIOps capabilities. This role ensures that the team operates efficiently, meets performance standards, and delivers high-quality solutions to support business operations. The Practice Lead acts as a technical guide while fostering best practices, continuous improvement, and professional development within the team.
What you’ll do
Leadership & Team Management
- Mentor, and develop a team of engineers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and tools to succeed.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet business requirements and project deadlines.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation within the team.
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on support when needed.
Systems & Applications Management
- Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of operating systems and applications.
- Ensure system and application reliability, security, and performance in alignment with business needs.
- Manage software upgrades, patches, and lifecycle management activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and application issues.
Process Improvement & Best Practices
- Develop and enforce engineering best practices, including automation, documentation, and security protocols.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains.
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for system and application management.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and business units, to align engineering practices with organizational objectives.
- Act as a key point of contact for escalations and critical incidents.
- Provide reports and insights on system performance, risks, and improvements to senior leadership.
Compliance & Security
- Ensure all systems and applications adhere to security policies, compliance regulations, and industry standards.
- Work with cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks and implement proactive security measures.
- Support audit and compliance activities as required.
What you’ll bring
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems and enterprise applications. Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages for system management (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible). Knowledge of security best practices and regulatory requirements related to system and application management.
- Ability to guide, mentor, and support a team of engineers in best practices and problem-solving.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues. Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners. Commitment to optimising processes, adopting new technologies, and driving efficiency.
- Bachelors’ degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in systems and applications engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role.
- Experience with enterprise operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux) and applications (e.g., databases, middleware, cloud services).
- Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and automation tools.
