Job Details

The Senior Director of USPAH Learning & Development, is responsible for creating and formulating a scalable and sustainable learning strategy and model to drive and promote the learning agenda across the USPAH business group. This role will plan, design, and implement the overall structure of the learning landscape and craft a compelling vision, incorporating multiple channels and deliveries methods that increase the effectiveness of revenue-generating teams and accelerate skill capability across the associate population. This position will be empowered to create proactive solutions to address building the right organizational capabilities for diverse workforce. Through collaborative internal and external partnerships, this position will lead a highly effective and efficient learning team delivering relevant solutions and impactful learning experiences on a broad scale.


This leadership position will play a significant role in transforming current learning standards and reshape practices through up-to-date knowledge of best practices in learning and a strong understanding of business practices alongside leadership agility. The Vice president of Learning & Development demonstrates a capacity to think strategically to establish a learning strategy that supports the execution of organizational goals. This role will promote and foster a culture of continuous and productive learning that enables our employees to grow, increase capabilities and develop professionally to drive business outcomes today and for the future. This position will deliver a comprehensive approach by utilizing a full complement of skills, including business data and analytics, an understanding of various emerging technologies, learning theory, demonstrated experience building, designing, and implementing enterprise-wide learning and development strategies and programs in a matrix learning environment that are inclusive and build workstyle consciousness across various cultures. This position must show the ability to persuasively communicate strategy, ideas, and tactical execution plans to leadership effectively and productively. The ability to align, seek feedback, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders is a critical success factor productively and consistently.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Set the strategic objectives for Learning & Development across the business and executes against those goals and objectives to deliver value to the business.

  • Build and sustain a thriving learning curriculum and agenda to build and enhance organizational capability.

  • Deliver a robust initial sales effectiveness training program to ensure sellers are productive, knowledgeable, consultative, and confident in influencing customer buying decisions, and presenting services as value-added solutions.

  • Identify sales team performance barriers and enablers and design non-training and training solutions that improve performance.

  • Build and sustain effective relationships throughout the company – especially within Enterprise Learning , assigned business units and key cross-function  partners.

  • Drive culture and strategies to establish an optimized and personalized employee experience through the learning framework.

  • Directs the assessment of skill gaps or training needs, the creation and renewal of training content or materials, and the coordination and delivery of training sessions through multiple formats including virtual, self-paced, microbursts and in person.

  • Lead and sustain  learning advisory services  which  advise and help select curriculum and development experiences.

  • Ensure strong linkage of learning programs to overall business initiatives and goals.

  • Measures and reports on the success of learning programs through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Responsible for reporting risks identified to the appropriate team and/or management.

  • Partners with  leadership to develop L&D plans for new markets and acquisitions.

  • Build an effective process for ongoing improvements to programs and interventions.

  • Align training programs to leadership competencies, evaluating gaps in current and desired state and selecting and overseeing tactics to improve results.

  • Facilitates a culture of performance and accountability in leadership and serves as a consultant to drive change and improvements

  • Establish and use rapport within the organization to present points of view that persuade others to shift their thinking and action.

  • Build learning capability and offerings within the LMS/LXP to create a newly defined user experience that is rooted in a consumer-driven and focused approach, revolutionizing the learn agenda at Cencora.

  • Provide reports and updates to management as required regarding activities, costs, and performance.

  • Participates in budget planning and management activities throughout the year and proposes and negotiates annual funding recommendations.

  • Provide benchmarking statistics on the results of latest programs, initiatives, and training; develops, delivers, and facilitates training and training content.

  • Measure and track outcomes of initiatives.

  • Determines cost benefit analysis for training programs being offered.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications


Requires specific training in fields such as education and training, instructional design, business administration, sales, marketing, or similar vocations obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor’s degree Program and/or advanced degree from accredited institution. Master’s degree preferred. Requires a minimum of 15 years in adult education training experience or equivalent work experience in sales, sales operations, and sales management; direct experience in needs assessment,  program design, testing, evaluation, quality control, performance metrics and reporting learning  programs. Experience in a Corporate or Consulting environment preferred.

  • To provide a world class learner experience and drive outcomes, must have an exceptional ability to learn and understand the company to determine the delivery strategy that will best meet their needs

  • Direct supervision of the Learning and Development team

  • Understanding of new learning practices and modules, including gamification, AI, and Machine Learning

  • Deep knowledge in the areas of organization development, culture and organizational change, curriculum development, adult learning, learning and organizational assessment, leadership and talent development, innovative working styles, learning styles and program design and delivery

  • Excellent presentation, organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal skills

  • Strong business acumen; can connect learning to business outcomes

  • Attention to detail; ability to manage timelines and staff

  • Proven success coaching and developing direct reports

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation communication skills with individuals at all levels in business

  • Proven strong collaborative and influencing skills

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and produce high quality results with attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability and history of operating as a business manager

  • Working knowledge of computers necessary to operate effectively with company systems and programs

  • Strong proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications and advanced Power Point skills.

Salary Range*

$152,500 - 235,180

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
