About the Position
As a mid-level Field Engineer in the Strategic Projects group, you will be responsible for providing Engineering Field Services as well as performing Engineering Design and Analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer in a manner that provides the client with quality service that is on time and within budget.
Salary Range: $85,000 - $125,000 / year
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Essential Responsibilities
- Performs equipment, control system, communications, troubleshooting, relay testing, start-up, and commissioning services
- Provides onsite construction support and supervision; attends construction meetings, assist with construction RFIs, questions, and design updates; assists with project scheduling, coordination between Engineers, Owners, Vendors, Contractors, and other parties; verifies compliance with designs
- Prepares field testing, troubleshooting, investigation, and construction progress reports
- Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, and studies
- Programs, wires, and installs protective relaying and control systems
- Programs, installs, and tests communications, SCADA, and PLC systems
- Perform detailed design of all aspects of Electric Power Systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
- Reviews the work of Designers, Drafters, and Field Service Personnel for general quality and accuracy, as required
- Maintains a thorough understanding and applications of applicable Codes and Standards
- Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships
- Maintains high ethical and professional standards
- Expected to work additional time beyond 40 hours/week as required to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions
- Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
- Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
Must Have
- Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, Electric Power option preferred
- Experience: 2+ years of Engineering and relevant field experience
- Licensure: FE, PE is a plus, but not required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and power system software such as EasyPower, ETAP or SKM
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and other computer software
- Experience with Omicron test equipment preferred
- Professional, articulate, and able to exercise good independent judgement and discretion
- Highly organized, motivated self-starter
- Proven record of delivering a high standard of quality work with exceptional attention to detail
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and creating systems and plans where there are none
- Flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment with a quickly growing team
- Good interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills; ability to interact successfully with Clients, Contractors, Vendors, and at all levels of the organization; demonstrates high emotional intelligence
- Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
- A strong command of the English language
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Nice to Have
- Experience with apparatus testing and familiarity with NETA standards
- OSHA 10 certification
