Senior Full Stack Developer

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Full Stack Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing scalable software solutions that power our systems. This role will lead architectural design efforts, optimize system performance, and ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end technologies. The idea candidate has extensive experience with cloud environments (AWS), API development, database management, and modern development workflows.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Architect, design, and develop scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails, MySQL, and cloud-based technologies
• Develop, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs for internal and external use, ensuring security best practices (OAuth, JWT, etc)
• Optimize database performance and implement advanced indexing strategies for MySQL databases within AWS.
• Lead efforts to redesign the AccessDS system architecture for scalability and performance improvement on AWS.
• Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Oversee and enhance CI/CD pipelines to streamline software deployment processes.
• Ensure application security by implementing industry-standard best practices (OWASP Top 10 encryption, etc)
• Collaborate in an Agile/SCRUM environment, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and iterative development cycles.
• Investigate and troubleshoot application issues, including performance bottlenecks, API errors, and system crashes.
• Managing API design and implementation for AccessDS internal or external consumption, ensuring smooth data flow between systems within our AWS environment.
• Mentor junior developers, promote knowledge sharing, and drive continuous improvement within the development team.
• Work closely with infrastructure teams to manage cloud deployments and optimize AWS configurations.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to enhance the technology stack.

Other duties & special projects, as assigned and based on business needs.

Requirements

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred. Looking for candidates with 5 + years in fast paced environment with the technical tools listed.

JOB RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:

• Full Stack Development:

Proven experience in front-end and back-end development, particularly with Ruby on Rails and MySQL.

Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for building dynamic web applications.

• Cloud & Infrastructure:

Experience with AWS Services, serverless architecture, and cloud-based application management.

Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and scaling applications on AWS.

• API Development & Integration:

Expertise in designing, developing, and securing RESTful APIs.

Familiarity with API security practices, including OAuth and JWT authentication.

• Security & Performance Optimization:

Strong understanding of web application security and encryption best practices.

Ability to optimize application performance, including database query efficiency and caching strategies.

• Agile Methodologies & Collaboration:

Experience working in Agile development environments with SCRUM methodologies.

Ability to lead development projects, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality solutions on time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with event-driven architecture and high-performance web applications.
• Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React.
• Knowledge of Python for supplementary automation and data processing.
• Exposure to container orchestration tools and additional cloud services.
• Business experience in healthcare and/or insurance technology.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Any lifting, bending, traveling, etc. required to do the job duties listed above. Long periods of sitting and computer work.

WORK FROM HOME TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Supply and support their own internet services.

Maintaining an uninterrupted internet connection is a requirement of all work from home position.
