Job description

This assignment posting is for an Agency Worker opportunity with Dotdash Meredith. The Agency Worker is paid by a staffing agency employer. Agency Workers will receive a W2 from the staffing agency reporting their earnings for tax purposes.
Dotdash Meredith is looking for a health editor to join the anti-bias review board. The anti-bias review board is a cornerstone initiative to ensure our content is inclusive, free from bias, and serves our readers. This is a remote position. 
Assignment Responsibilities: 
We are looking for editors who can commit to at least 5 hours of work per week. The rate of pay for this role is $30/hr. Applicants must live in the United States.
  • Research, evaluate, and provide updates to content as needed in accordance with specific instructions and brand guidelines. 
  • Recommend edits in accordance with best practices in anti-bias editing. 
  • Identify examples of bias in content and research. 
Skills/Experience:
  • Experience reviewing, writing, editing or otherwise creating content about mental, physical or emotional health and the healthcare industry. Experience creating content on disparities and access to care is a plus. 
  • A deep understanding of the needs and challenges for creating accurate, representative, respectful, sensitive, and trustworthy content about health and healthcare. 
  • Strong communication skills. You can engage multiple audiences on sensitive topics and help stakeholders understand your recommendations. 
  • Knowledge of issues related to anti-bias editing and inclusive storytelling. 
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets (e.g. Excel, Google Sheets) and content management systems. 
  • Comfort working independently. 
  • Access to a smartphone, computer (not a tablet), and a secure internet connection. This is a requirement for the role. 
  • Experience creating or updating editorial guidelines. This is a plus.
