Mattermost is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team within Platform Engineering to revolutionize testing infrastructure automation and enable developer productivity, faster product launches, and exceptional customer experiences. This role is pivotal to Mattermost’s mission of delivering secure, scalable, and reliable collaboration solutions by ensuring automated testing pipelines and operational practices drive high-quality software delivery.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will own testing infrastructure automation, lead the adoption of AI-driven automated testing strategies, and enhance self-serve capabilities to reduce technical debt and improve engineering velocity. Your contributions will strengthen Mattermost’s resiliency and operational efficiency while aligning testing and DevOps practices with the organization’s strategic goals, including marketplace expansion and innovation across Channels, Boards, Playbooks, and mobile and desktop applications.
Key Responsibilities:Develop, deploy, and maintain scalable testing infrastructure automation for Mattermost Platform, enabling faster and more reliable software releases across all product lines.Drive innovation in automated testing systems through AI-driven methodologies and tool integrations to ensure comprehensive feature coverage and operational robustness.Establish and enhance self-serve capabilities, empowering developers to iterate and deploy high-quality features independently.Work with cross-functional teams to ensure testing frameworks and pipelines are seamlessly integrated into the software development lifecycle, boosting developer productivity.Collaborate on improving site reliability and platform scalability, identifying and resolving inefficiencies in testing and operational practices.Lead efforts to reduce technical debt and automate repetitive processes, resulting in faster feedback cycles and enhanced developer and customer experiences.Continuously evaluate platform performance and testing effectiveness using data-driven insights, proactively addressing gaps and aligning automation with strategic initiatives.Advocate for and implement DevOps best practices that scale across Mattermost’s ecosystem, supporting secure and resilient releases.Required Background/Skill:Deep experience in DevOps and SRE roles, including designing, building, and maintaining automated pipelines and infrastructure for testing and operational processes.Expertise in DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes), infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible), and cloud environments.Proven track record of driving innovation in automated testing and process optimization, including adoption of AI-driven testing methodologies.Strong skills in scripting and programming (e.g., Python, Go, Shell) for building robust and efficient automation frameworks.Familiarity with modern monitoring and observability tools to optimize system reliability and performance.Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills to work effectively across distributed, cross-functional teams.Strong commitment to operational excellence, secure software delivery, and achieving high-quality outcomes for developers and customers.Mattermost is an EEO Employer, We are a remote-first, open-source company.
