The Job 

The Business Development Manager leads the fundraising strategy to secure funding for current and future projects, through the delivery of pipeline opportunities that support Tiko's ambitious growth objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develops strategic fundraising plans by gathering intelligence, analysing pipeline, and co-creating concepts to meet income targets. 
  • Champion and upholds the quality of team pitches and proposals through deep review for submissions within procurement, collaboration and open call deadlines. 
  • Drives approaches and negotiations to secure income aligning with the fundraising strategy.
  • Support strategic decision making across teams on donor funding opportunities to pursue.
  • Generate new business leads and successfully convert them into meaningful partnerships.
  • Develop compelling investment cases, proposals and presentations for a pipeline of priority donors, keeping abreast of the latest  trends and analysis within the donor and partner landscape. 
  • Deliver significant funding from new donors (candidates will be expected to show evidence of winning funding of a minimum of 6 figures)
  • Building partnerships to ensure we are well positioned for priority bids in the pipeline. 
  • Supports External Relations through integrated strategies for engagement and visibility.  
  • Drive proposal development, fully owning and coordinating the process— from creating buy-in around responsibilities and timelines, motivating and organizing people, guiding players through every step in the proposal process, gathering inputs from technical leads, working with finance teams on budget development, creating supplementary materials, to rolling up your sleeves to write proposals and submit them. 
  • Hone systems, by documenting and implementing business processes, procedures, and templates to improve the workflow for business development, and supporting the roll out of CRM tools such as Salesforce.

Qualifications

  • Experience in international development or global health is preferred.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree required 
  • Strong verbal and written communicator. . 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships with both external and internal stakeholders.  
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Experience with fundraising, business development, proposal management and relationship management will be a bonus.
