Reporting into the Vice President of Product, Essentials, the Product Director will be a key member of the leadership team driving the future of Availity’s core product, Essentials.  Essentials is the leading multi-payer portal that streamlines healthcare administration by providing a seamless, unified experience for providers, payers and revenue cycle teams. By integrating real-time eligibility, claims management, and authorization workflows across multiple insurers, Essentials reduces administrative burden, accelerates reimbursements, and enhances transparency in the healthcare ecosystem. Our vision is to make Essentials the indispensable hub for all provider-payer interactions, driving efficiency and improving financial outcomes across the industry. ​

In this role, you will be responsible for shaping the product vision and strategy, setting clear product goals and KPIs, and overseeing the execution of product roadmaps that align with customer needs, market demands, and business objectives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, sales, and marketing, ensuring a seamless delivery of innovative solutions that improve healthcare workflows and enhance the providers’ experience. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in product management, a proven track record of leading product teams, and a strong understanding of healthcare technologies, especially revenue cycle management. This position offers a unique opportunity to help close the provider-payer gap, while contributing to a rapidly growing, industry-leading product.

To be qualified for this position you:

  • 10-15 years of experience in managing products with at least 5 years in leadership role demonstrating the ability to lead high-performing teams, influence stakeholders, and drive product strategy.
  • Strong focus on deeply understanding customer needs, market trends, and user pain points, with a track record of delivering solutions that provide exceptional user value.
  • Expertise in developing and executing long-term product roadmaps, aligning product strategies with business goals, and prioritizing features based on impact and value.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with engineering, design, sales, and marketing teams to ensure product success from concept to launch and beyond.
  • Experience in leveraging data and customer feedback to inform product decisions, optimize performance, and iterate on product features.
  • Strong understanding of agile frameworks, lean principles, and product development cycles to deliver products efficiently while maintaining high quality.
  • Ability to communicate complex product concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clear direction across teams.
  • Experience leading teams through change, managing ambiguity, and adapting product strategies in fast-paced or evolving environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to take products from ideation to launch, with measurable business outcomes such as increased customer acquisition, retention, or revenue growth.
  • A passion for staying at the forefront of product management trends, continuously learning, and sharing best practices within the product community.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant experience or equivalent education. MBA is a plus.

You will be:

  • Leading the Essentials and Essentials Plus product portfolios – developing and executing the product strategy, managing the strategic roadmap, and ensuring cross-functional alignment to deliver and monetize products.
  • Developing and nurturing world-class product management talent and empowered teams, leveraging modern best practices, continuous development, and a coaching mindset.
  • Partnering with Engineering, UX, Data and AI to deliver outcomes that help grow the business and deliver value to both payers and providers.
  • Leading continuous discovery processes to regularly test assumptions and iterate on product features with customer feedback.
  • Driving cross-team innovation and enterprise thinking to actively seek opportunities for growth through product line extensions, partnerships, channel expansion, and operational/cost improvements to existing products.
  • Developing market insights by maintaining close relationships with the market for awareness of market needs.  Working with Marketing, Sales, and others as they identify appropriate markets and develops effective strategies and tactics for reaching them.
  • Owning the Go-To-Market strategy and Assisting sales in their interactions with prospects and users.
  • Collaborating with Market Research to strategize, plan, and prioritize market, product, and subject matter research that identify and define opportunities to support and grow business. Specifying market requirements for current and future products supported not only by research, but also through ongoing visits to customers and non-customers.
  • Monitoring costs and resource commitments and creating reporting to ensure internal stakeholders and Senior Leaders are informed on the financial status as well as delivery of the product(s).
  • Actively evaluating potential partners that could aid in delivery of applicable product(s).  Actively assisting in managing such partners to ensure success of product(s).
  • Owning product metrics, progress, user experience and operational outcomes and regularly communicating outcomes against product goals to drive iterative improvements.
  • Collaborating and influencing across the Availity matrix organization to align the activities of product, marketing, IT, sales, and service teams and their leaders to deliver the product(s).
  • Ensuring technical feasibility, architectural alignment, scale, and performance of solutions by engaging and soliciting feedback from the right technical, operational or enterprise team members.
  • Attending industry or client facing events where you will represent Availity and be responsible for speaking to the audience on the value of our Essential Products.
