Role Overview:

Global Medical Affairs CMH VP is an integral member of the medical affairs and brand team for strategic planning in the support of launch and commercialisation activities to meet patients’ needs and ultimately enhance the customers’ experience in interacting with the company.  Specific activities include developing or contributing to the global and/or regional clinical/medical  plan in the therapeutic area of responsibility, the development, conduct and reporting of Ph 3b/4 clinical trials; the reporting of adverse events as mandated by corporate patient safety; review process for protocols, study reports, publications and data dissemination for products; new and updated labels, documents and tools supporting product pricing, reimbursement, and access (PRA), contacts with regulatory and other governmental agencies; the outreach medical activities aimed at the external clinical customer community, including thought leaders; and various medical activities in support of demand realisation

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Vice President – Cardiometabolic Health Business Unit is to provide medical leadership globally for Obesity portfolio, with a particular focus on major affiliates, for creating medical strategy and content relevant regionally/locally, ensuring affiliates has global leadership and support for launch readiness for molecules in pipeline and global thought leader engagement. 

The VP Global medical affairs is responsible for the planning, startup and conduct of phase 3b/4 studies (and phase I and II studies where applicable), as well as non-clinical trial solutions/activities that are conducted in the global team in affiliates/countries as described in the clinical plan. With the expansion of the Lilly CMH portfolio, this role will be responsible for leadership that allows appropriate scientific and strategic support for Obesity portfolio.  This includes, but is not limited to, leading portfolio medical strategy, launch readiness of major affiliates, TLE plan and execution, global medical education, through design and execution of phase 3b/4 studies and expansion of real-world evidence, observational data and patient reported outcomes to address the needs of the medical organisation.   

Business/Customer support (Pre and Post launch support)

  • Leadership / support to portfolio medical strategy through global brand planning process
  • Leadership and cross-functional collaboration for major affiliates launch readiness process for Obesity pipeline.
  • Prepare or review scientific information in response to customer questions or media requests.
  • Provide follow-up to information requested by health care professionals as per global SOPs.
  • Support data analysis and the development of slide sets (through reviewing and/or approving) and publications (abstracts, posters, manuscripts).
  • Participate in data analyses, development of scientific data dissemination, and preparation of final reports and publications.
  • Participate in reporting of clinical trial data in Clinical Trial Registry activities.

Clinical Planning 

  • Provide leadership to Integrated Evidence generation process for Obesity portfolio
  • Collaborate with Clinical Research Physicians (CRPs) and Scientists (CRSs), regional clinical operations staff, statisticians, health outcomes, and selected investigators in the development of protocols and data collection requirements.
  • Assist in the planning process and participate in study start-up meetings and other activities to provide the appropriate scientific training and information to investigators and site personnel.
  • Serve as resource to clinical research site monitors, investigators and ethical review boards to address any questions or clarify issues arising during the conduct of study.
  • Review IIT proposals and publications as needed, as requested contribute to global alignment of Phase 3b/4 clinical studies planned by country (ies) or global medical affairs team.

Key Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor. Must be board eligible or certified in appropriate specialty/subspecialty or have completed the comparable level of post-medical school clinical training relevant to the country of hiring.
  • Must have completed education and training at a medical school that meets the requirements of the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). 
  • Specialty in Endocrinology and Metabolism
  • Pharmaceutical and/or clinical experience in Obesity
  • Previous managerial experience with leading teams of physicians / scientists (strongly preferred)
  • Experience in launching new molecules (strongly preferred)
  • Knowledge of drug development process
  • Demonstrated ability to balance scientific priorities with business priorities  
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others (both cross-functionally and within the function)
  • Ability to engage in domestic and international travel to the degree appropriate to support the business of the team
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written communication
