Mob Entertainment is seeking a Technical Designer to join the ranks. The goal in this role is to drive the creation and improvement of core gameplay and technical systems and tools highly tuned for the level of rich feedback and player immersion that helped define our games.

You’ll interact with engineering by bringing the design perspective to discussions of features, tooling and debugging processes, helping ensure these systems are readable to non-engineers, as well as owning in-game implementation of features and systems. You’ll often be responsible for owning your own features, be it through prototyping and creating your own, or taking designs from others and handling implementation.

What you will do:

  • Taking ownership of and prototyping, implementing, and managing AI behaviors, interactive objects, narrative sequences, and gameplay scenarios.
  • Collaborate with the design team to conceptualize, implement, tune, and balance gameplay mechanics and systems, as well as prototype new features.
  • Collaborate with animation, programming, and art teams to ensure the timely delivery of necessary assets and code for your assigned areas.
  • Finding and solving inefficiencies in implementation processes, such as taking code blocks and turning them to simple nodes.

What skills you will use:

  • Have worked professionally in Unreal Engine 4 / 5.
  • Ability to program in C++ or similar programming/scripting language.
  • Extremely capable with Blueprint Visual scripting experience.

  • Understanding of game feel, how we use different modes of feedback to elevate the player experience.
  • Ability to brainstorm, iterate, and find creative solutions while being receptive to design direction.
  • Proactively seek feedback, driven to improve, and graciously able to give feedback to others.
  • Ability to work interdisciplinarily among different departments.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience developing first-person horror puzzle games.
  • Understanding of narrative principles, and conveying emotion through gameplay
  • Broad base of knowledge in different systems, materials, animations, anything that can help push prototypes and systems to polished states very quickly.
  • Experience with more technical systems and concepts such as replication
  • Experience with the following areas of design
