About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Business Analyst (TBA) to join our agile Scrum team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional analytical skills, and experience in ecommerce and retail. As a Technical Business Analyst at Orium, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business requirements and technical solutions, ensuring our projects align with strategic goals and deliver value to our clients.
The TBA will support the discovery and definition phase or our projects, working closely with an Orium Consultant/Strategist to define acceptance criteria for the release plan and ensure all technical and business requirements are well-documented before moving into execution. Additionally, the TBA will actively work during the deploy phase, collaborating with the Product Owner (PO) and Scrum team to ensure tickets are thoroughly fleshed out and clear for the development team to execute efficiently.
Responsibilities
Discovery & Definition Support:
- Actively participate in the discovery and definition phase, collaborating with the Consultant/Strategist to refine business objectives.
- Assist in writing clear acceptance criteria for the release plan, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.
- Support stakeholders by clarifying requirements early in the project lifecycle, reducing ambiguity in later execution phases.
Deploy Phase Collaboration:
- Work closely with the PO and Scrum team to ensure backlog items are well-defined and executable.
- Refine and elaborate user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications to provide clarity for development teams.
- Participate in sprint planning and backlog refinement to ensure tickets are accurate, comprehensive, and ready for execution.
- Act as a point of contact for developers and QA to answer questions, clarify requirements, and resolve ambiguities during the development cycle.
Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
- Investigate business needs and translate them into clear, actionable technical requirements.
- Participate in workshops and meetings to capture user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure requirements are well-defined and feasible.
Solution Design:
- Work closely with the Product Owner and technical team to define solutions that leverage Orium’s expertise in MACH architecture, ensuring they align with the client's business objectives.
- Ensure technical requirements are comprehensive and well-documented, reducing ambiguity and facilitating smooth development.
Agile Collaboration:
- Actively participate in all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to backlog refinement and prioritization, ensuring clarity and feasibility of user stories.
- Work closely with developers and QA to clarify requirements and facilitate issue resolution.
Documentation and Communication:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of requirements, functional specifications, and system interactions.
- Effectively communicate with both technical team members and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and shared understanding.
- Create and manage process flows, wireframes, and system diagrams where necessary.
Problem-Solving:
- Identify project risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks, proposing effective mitigation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement within the team and organization by identifying opportunities for efficiency and optimization.
- Collaborate with engineering and QA teams to validate solutions and ensure smooth implementation.
Client Support and Triage:
- Facilitate requirements gathering and prioritization for long-term Support clients, ensuring their needs are met efficiently.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving client-reported issues by coordinating with internal teams.
Market Awareness:
- Stay informed of the latest trends in composable commerce, MACH architecture, and agile methodologies.
- Provide insights into industry best practices and help drive innovation within the team.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 1 year in a technical capacity within an agile environment.
- Strong understanding of ecommerce, retail, and composable commerce concepts.
- Proficiency in documenting requirements and using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with MACH architecture (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, and Headless) is highly desirable.
- Agile/Scrum certification is a plus.
