About the Role
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing inventory costs, ensuring pricing accuracy, and supporting financial reporting processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams to maintain accurate financial records.
What you’ll do
Perform routine price testing audits to ensure First In, First Out (FIFO) layers are correct.
Identify and review item set-up accounting issues and escalate to the Controller and VP of Accounting.
Understand work orders and assembly builds, ensuring items have correct pricing.
Conduct weekly reviews of accrued purchases to verify item receipt prices match billed amounts.
Ensure timely closure of all purchase orders.
Review all inventory adjustments to confirm correct quantity and cost usage.
Capitalize all costs such as freight, duty, and product enhancements into inventory.
Develop an Obsolete and Slow-Moving Inventory (OSMI) accrual or an inventory aging analysis to identify balances for write-off.
Monitor the dropship accrual process and ensure proper reconciliation with purchase orders.
Reconcile inventory at Amazon fulfillment centers with NetSuite records.
Investigate and resolve converting cost issues.
Participate in the month-end closing process as required.
Assist with ad hoc inventory-related issues and reporting needs.
