Application Performance Monitoring (APM) Architect

We are looking for a detail-oriented Application Performance Monitoring (APM) Architect to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will drive the implementation of performance monitoring strategies, ensuring seamless integration with cloud technologies and platform infrastructure. Technical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of real-world experience in Application Performance Monitoring in Dynatrace, Splunk or Datadog etc.
  • 5+ years of experience leading and consulting in large Enterprise.
  • Expert level understanding of application and infrastructure monitoring and observability.
  • Solid understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) with expertise or certification in at least one.
  • Proficiency in platform infrastructure, network topologies, routing, security protocols, load balancers, high availability, and capacity planning.
  • Knowledge of container-based solutions using Kubernetes and similar products.

 

Dynatrace specific skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding in application performance monitoring, cloud technologies and ability to design and implement Dynatrace solutions in complex enterprise environments.
  • Solid expertise in designing and implementing Dynatrace / Dynatrace extension or managing APM / observability solution.
  • Proficient in Dynatrace features, architecture design along with installation, fine-tuning, and implementation experience for various environment (Production, Test, Development and Disaster Recovery)
  • Expertise in Dynatrace platform configuration including host grouping, auto tagging, naming rules, management zones, RUM (Real User Monitoring), Synthetics, session properties, request attributes, user tags, log monitoring alert profile, problem notifications, threshold tuning, anomaly including ServiceNow, Slack and Pager Duty integrations.
  • Create custom extension in Dynatrace using shell, Python and batch script based on rest API and logs.
  • Setting up Dynatrace extension configurations, Dashboards (including business), Infrastructure, Analytics, Observability logs, metrics data collection and interpret the same.
  • Proficiency in Dynatrace Query Language (DQL).
  • Metric scripting.

 

Additional skills:

  • Good Understanding of Splunk, ELK, Datadog etc. along with any other APM tools, testing, SIEM and SRE tools.
  • Expert level experience in identifying performance bottlenecks, performance analysis, tuning and recommendations for enterprise-wide applications.
  • Expert in custom shell and Python scripting.
  • Excellent understanding on JSON, JavaScript, YAML, Java etc.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working in Agile and SAFe methodologies.
  • Performance and reliability testing along with Performance tools, metrics, and Dashboard development.
  • Good Understanding of Security, Regulatory and compliance requirements.

 

Soft skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and build relationships with cross-functional team.
  • Outstanding technical documentation skills, ability to lead meetings for technology, process, and requirement assessments.


Responsibilities:

  • Single point of contact for anything Dynatrace, APM or Observability.
  • Design, Develop and implement prescriptive value realizations journeys for customers using Dynatrace Observability platform.
  • Server as a subject matter expert on Dynatrace techniques, technology, and best practices.
  • Partner with VA’s multi-functional and technology (platform) teams to improve product offerings and service delivery.
  • Engage with internal VA customers to understand their needs and continuously improve offerings.

 

Good to have:

  • Experience implementing observability/ monitoring of enterprise applications like Mulesoft, Microsoft Platforms (D365 and MPP), Pega etc.
  • Dynatrace certifications – Professional or Associate, Service Delivery certification – Observability / SaaS upgrade along with any cloud certifications.
  • Cloud or Kubernetes certification.
  • Any scripting certifications.
