Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Senior Manager - Government Affairs in Chennai, India.

This role is based out of Chennai and is a balanced mix of public policy and CSR responsibilities, requiring a strategic leader who can drive policy advocacy while ensuring effective execution of CSR initiatives. The candidate will work closely with State Governments, State government agencies, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to shape policy discussions, influence regulatory frameworks, and align CSR projects with the company’s broader sustainability and compliance goals.


What a typical day looks like:

Public Policy & Government Relations

  • Engage with state-level government agencies and industry associations to drive policy discussions aligned with the company’s strategic priorities.
  • Lead cross-functional policy initiatives, providing strategic counsel to business teams on regulatory developments, sustainability policies, and emerging industry trends.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, influencing decision-makers and fostering partnerships to drive consensus on complex policy issues.
  • Track and analyze regulatory changes, assessing their impact on the company’s operations and advocating for favorable policy outcomes.
  • Represent the company in key forums, industry discussions, and public policy dialogues, ensuring a proactive stance on issues related to manufacturing, sustainability, and responsible business practices.

CSR & Sustainability

  • Strategize, align, and manage CSR projects, ensuring robust utilization of CSR allocations and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Identify and onboard NGO partners, conducting due diligence, feasibility analysis, and aligning projects with company objectives.
  • Develop and implement impact measurement frameworks, defining key metrics and processes to track project effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Finance teams to ensure proper documentation (MoUs) and financial adherence to CSR budgets.
  • Guide teams on regulatory updates, particularly changes in Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, ensuring compliance with evolving CSR mandates.
  • Monitor and evaluate CSR projects through regular site visits and periodic reviews, ensuring alignment with both business and social impact goals.
  • Strengthen the company’s brand presence by ensuring CSR initiatives enhance industry leadership and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and social impact.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in public policy, advocacy, regulatory affairs, or compliance, with a strong track record of driving policy initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience working with or within state-level government agencies, industry associations.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional policy initiatives, provide strategic counsel to business teams, and navigate a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to drive consensus on complex issues, influence decision-makers, and manage multiple projects while keeping senior leadership informed.
  • Experience in planning and executing sustainability projects, with a strong understanding of industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with the social sector, and preferably worked in the following areas:
    • Sustainability and CSR initiatives, including relevant certifications or qualifications.
    • Monitoring and evaluation of projects to assess impact and effectiveness.
    • Assessing long-term sustainability and viability of projects.
  • Fluency in Tamil is essential to effectively engage with local stakeholders, government agencies, and community partners.
