The Regional Director of Laboratory Operations plays a vital role in the operation of laboratories in the states where Unified has physician practices under the direction and guidance of the VP of Laboratory Operations. The responsibilities below will be carried out for the specific laboratories assigned to this position.
Responsibilities
Works under the direction of the VP of Lab Operations to continually improve service level metrics, financials, and overall quality of the assigned laboratories to increase provider and patient satisfaction:
Coordinates and maintains cross departmental workflows to support ongoing laboratory operations to standardize with all lab markets
Drives workflow and process improvements through standardization and development of best practices
Participates in development and ongoing management of assigned laboratory budgets
Partners with laboratory RCM to audit, report, and resolve payment issues
Partners with laboratory client services and Unified account management to monitor and resolve concerns and issues as they arise
Coordinates and direct the efforts of the Lab Account Managers in the assigned territories to bring quality matters back to the care centers for compliance, education, missed opportunity and continual improvement to increase engagement
Oversees the recruiting process for supervisory and management personnel for delegated laboratories
Creates staffing and capacity plans to ensure adequate staffing and instrumentation for expected volumes
Directs the Lab Managers of the assigned laboratories to continually improve the quality and overall operations:
Identifies and implements training programs as necessary
Monitors quality management program with a goal to continually improve service levels and drive provider satisfaction
Ensures that all policies and procedures are followed and properly controlled
Oversees plans and preparations for regulatory inspections and ensures inspection readiness
Maintain all necessary state and federal licenses including CAP accreditation and CLIA license
Mentor and support direct reports to further their personal and professional growth
The Regional Director of Operations is also expected to maintain and promote the following core competencies:
Maintains up-to-date understanding of industry trends, government regulations, and technical developments that effect assigned markets
Develops and deliver presentations in a professional and effective manner
Develops and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of staff and customers

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in medical technology, chemical or biological science.
Minimum of 7+ years of laboratory experience to include at least 5+ years of experience in managing an anatomic and/or clinical pathology laboratory that included molecular microbiology.
Current ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist, Laboratory Scientist, Cytotechnologist, Histotechnologist or equivalent. Molecular Biology (MB) certification by ASCP is not required but would be highly desirable.
The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities/projects.
Ability to brainstorm in a creative way - broad-minded, fast-thinker with a creative, marketing-led brain with an intuitive appreciation of the consumer journey.
Strong customer orientation and ability to foster long term customer relationships.
Strong financial and data analytics acumen needed to support decision making processes.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication and presentation skills.
Candidate must have experience with cytology, histology and/or molecular microbiology preferably in Women’s Health.
