Job description

Who we are

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.

Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, Equipment Monitoring, and Site Visibility. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.

About the role:

As a Video & Motion Editor, you will play a pivotal role in bringing our brand to life through compelling, high-quality video content. Your work will be instrumental in shaping our brand narrative, educating our audience, and driving engagement across a variety of digital platforms, including social media, our website, and marketing campaigns. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, to conceptualize, edit, and produce videos that align seamlessly with our brand vision and strategic business objectives. From crafting visually stunning motion graphics to refining video edits that captivate and inform, you will ensure every piece of content is polished, impactful, and optimized for its intended audience. Success in this role requires an expert-level understanding of video editing, motion design, and visual storytelling, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You must have a keen eye for detail, be a solutions-oriented problem solver, always deliver on time and on brief, and have the ability to balance creativity with business goals to craft videos that leave a lasting impression.

This role is open to candidates residing in Canada.

You should apply if:

  • You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact—helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.
  • You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won’t be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper growth environment.
  • You’re energized by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.
  • You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team that will encourage you to do your best.

In this role, you will:

  • Edit and enhance raw footage into polished, engaging videos for web, social media, ads, events, and internal communications.
  • Create and templatize dynamic motion graphics, animations, and visual effects to elevate video content.
  • Develop compelling narratives through video editing techniques, pacing, transitions, and sound design.
  • Edit videos for multiple platforms (X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, website) while considering aspect ratios, engagement strategies, and platform best practices.
  • Optimize audio quality, sound effects, and color grading to enhance the final product.
  • Maintain an organized library of video assets, templates, and project files.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest video editing and motion graphics trends, tools, and techniques. Be open to share your learnings with the team and present as requested.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all visual content and ensure quality control in all deliverables.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in video editing and motion graphics at a high growth B2B SaaS technology company.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Cinema 4D (or equivalent 3D software like Blender or Maya).
  • Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times while juggling multiple projects.
  • Have a strong portfolio showcasing video editing, motion graphics, and creative storytelling.
  • Strong understanding of animation principles, typography, and composition.
  • Experience with video editing and post-production techniques.
  • Ability to create storyboards, style frames, and motion prototypes.
  • Ability to interpret and implement direction from non-creative stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of visual effects, compositing, and rendering techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience in UI animation or interactive motion design.
