Job description

 

The Department of International Health is recruiting for a Research Program Assistant. Under the direct supervision of the Associate Professor, the Research Program Assistant will assist in supporting the International Institute for Primary Health Care-Ethiopia through a Gates-funded project. The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with Ethiopian colleagues on conducting interviews related to Community Health Workers and supporting an international conference on Primary Health Care. We are looking for a candidate with excellent, self-motivated, goal-oriented, organized, team player attributes.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and coordinating meetings with collaborators in Ethiopia and the United States
  • Taking and circulating meeting notes.
  • Participating in conducting interviews.
  • Assist in preparing country specific reports on PHC issues in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Collaborate on preparation for the International Conference for Primary Health Care.


Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Able to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining ethical practice and confidentiality around interviews.
  • Must achieve and maintain a working knowledge of computer software specific to project including Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail, and web platforms for the conference.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent, with some college courses preferred.
  • Some related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Related research experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to perform the role as it pertains to research.
  • Experience in conference organization a major plus.
