Headlines:
  • Role - Clinical Scientist
  • Salary - £45,000 - 55,000
  • Location - Remote, UK
What you'll be doing:
  • Delivering high-quality genetic reports for clinical and research studies, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and consistency in line with best practices.
  • Reviewing genetic test results, performing thorough quality control checks, and troubleshooting complex cases where needed.
  • Collaborating across teams, including Bioinformatics, Study Delivery, Product, Engineering, and third-party labs, to maintain seamless delivery of results.
  • Developing internal documentation, including SOPs and local policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory guidance and quality standards.
  • Supporting study design, advising on suitable testing methods and contributing to gene panel design during study planning phases.
  • Contributing to ongoing product and process improvements, helping shape how we scale and improve genetic reporting.
  • Working within a small team of subject matter experts, bringing your clinical knowledge and specialist insight to support scientific excellence across Sano.
This job is for you if you:
  • Are a HCPC registered Clinical Scientist, specialising in genetics.
  • Have proven experience in a diagnostic genetics lab, particularly in variant interpretation and complex case reporting.
  • Are confident reviewing and writing detailed genetic test reports, and experienced in a range of testing methodologies.
  • Take a patient-first approach to your work and are excited by the impact of precision medicine.
  • Are comfortable working autonomously, taking initiative to manage your time, solve problems, and spot opportunities for improvement.
  • Are confident authoring and reviewing SOPs, and committed to maintaining high standards.
  • Thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where things can evolve quickly.
Even better if you have:
  • An MSc, PhD, or equivalent in genetics, molecular diagnostics, or a related field.
  • Experience working in or alongside cross-functional teams (e.g. product, engineering, research).
  • A product-oriented mindset, or experience working in a start-up or innovation-led environment.
  • A natural curiosity and love for continuous learning, with the desire to contribute beyond your core responsibilities.
This role is unlikely to be a great match if:
  • You’re not HCPC registered.
  • You don’t have hands-on experience with writing genetic test reports and variant interpretation.
  • You prefer close supervision over working independently or proactively.
