Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance software applications that comply with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, ARIA) to ensure an inclusive experience for all users.
  • Conduct thorough accessibility audits of existing systems, identify areas for improvement, and implement plans to address accessibility issues.
  • Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, front-end and back-end developers, and product managers to integrate accessibility features into products from the ground up. 
  • Utilize various tools and techniques to test software for accessibility compliance, providing detailed reports and recommendations based on testing results.
  • Offer technical support and guidance to users with disabilities, ensuring they can fully utilize our services.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in accessibility standards, tools, and technologies to continuously improve our offerings.
  • Build fully accessible software that meets the WCAG 2.1 standards for Accessibility.
  • Develop and implement repeatable fixes for common accessibility audit violations.
  • Set up accessibility testing and automated testing processes. 
  • Train engineers in accessibility development and best practices.
  • Write documentation, create training procedures, and set up automated CI/CD pipeline accessibility testing. 
  • Consult with multiple teams on best practices in UX design and engineering, make recommendations for product improvements, and engage in regular product accessibility testing and auditing

 Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in as an Accessibility Engineer
  • In-depth knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines, including WCAG and ARIA.
  • Strong proficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly React, and TypeScript.
  • Experience with accessibility testing tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to write clear documentation and conduct training sessions.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and their use in web environments.
  • Understanding of user experience design principles and their application to accessibility.

 Desired Skills

  • Experience with automated accessibility testing and CI/CD integration.
  • Knowledge of server-side technologies and their role in accessibility implementation.
  • Familiarity with mobile application accessibility considerations.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of React ecosystem and state management libraries.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity, or commissions.
