Compensation: $80k - $120k per annum

A DAY IN THE LIFE

The FTIR CEMS Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) projects using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). This role ensures compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and client requirements while driving project success from planning to installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance. The FTIR CEMS Project Manager will manage budgeting, documentation, compliance tracking, reporting, quality assurance, and continuous improvement efforts while serving as the primary liaison between clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Execution:

  • Oversee end-to-end project execution of FTIR-based CEMS installations, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
  • Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets while tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinate with engineering, field teams, and procurement to ensure timely delivery of sampling lines, probes, filter boxes, and flow monitoring equipment.
  • Conduct site assessments to determine system requirements, compliance needs, and optimal CEMS installation strategies.
  • Manage the logistics of multi-site deployments, ensuring seamless coordination of personnel, equipment, and regulatory approvals.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with EPA and local air quality regulations related to FTIR-based emissions monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, permits, and reports for regulatory audits and client requirements.
  • Lead quarterly audits of installed FTIR CEMS to verify data accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for any non-conformances or system malfunctions.
  • Stay up to date on emerging regulations affecting emissions monitoring and adapt program strategies accordingly.

Client & Vendor Relations:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to clients on optimal system configurations and regulatory strategies.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to procure high-quality FTIR components and ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop and present cost estimates, proposals, and bids for potential clients.

Quality Control & Performance Optimization:

  • Oversee data accuracy, calibration, and routine maintenance of FTIR CEMS to ensure continuous, reliable emissions monitoring.
  • Implement and enforce quality assurance (QA/QC) protocols for all project phases.
  • Conduct safety and operational assessments as per internal guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for system improvements, automation, and efficiency gains.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Manage and mentor technicians, engineers, and field personnel, ensuring proper training and skill development.
  • Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and collaboration within the team.
  • Ensure all team members complete necessary certifications, safety training, and compliance programs.
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly project forecasts to senior leadership.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in CEMS, FTIR, or environmental monitoring project management.
  • Strong knowledge of EPA CEMS regulations, FTIR technology, and air emissions compliance requirements.
  • Experience with procurement, vendor coordination, and budget management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data analysis tools, and project management software.
  • Ability to travel (>50%) to client sites and work in industrial environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass drug and alcohol testing, fit test for respirator, and physical requirements for fieldwork.
