Job description

Your career is an investment that grows over time!

Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing, opaque and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with over 4 million users who trust us with more than $50 billion in assets.

Our teams ship often and make an impact with groundbreaking ideas. We're looking for talented people who keep it simple and value collaboration and humility as we continue to create inclusive and high-performing teams where people can be inspired to do their best work.

About The Role

We’re hiring a Lifecycle Marketing Manager to play a critical role in reimagining and implementing proactive client communication journeys across the Wealthsimple clientbase. This role is both technical and creative where you’ll work on the strategy and execution of end-to-end lifecycle marketing initiatives, coordinate with product leadership and lean into improving the product ecosystem, partnering with lifecycle marketing leadership to build a world-class lifecycle function, including hiring, managing, and developing one or more direct report(s).

The ideal candidate is one who can think “client first”, who can balance multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing on quality, and who understands the interconnected technical and creative elements of consumer performance marketing programs. You’ll be joining our multidisciplinary Marketing organization where you’ll work with stakeholders from Product, Engineering, Design, Data Science, Communications & Engineering and other growth and lifecycle marketers like yourself.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Represent the Lifecycle Marketing team as a dedicated SME to one or more business units; you will be the steward of lifecycle strategy and campaign performance for your assigned product(s)
  • “Manage up” with business leaders & cross-functional partners in identifying, scoping, and prioritizing high-impact customer communication opportunities; maintain your own project backlog & experiment/optimization plans, properly allocating your team’s resources to drive business results
  • Act as a thought leader in lifecycle marketing, influencing go-to-market strategies and advocating for best-in-class customer experiences through comprehensive briefs and strategic use of various channel mixes across Wealthsimple’s product ecosystem.
  • Partner with lifecycle and product marketing leadership to opportunity size and craft quarterly lifecycle strategies that align with business objectives, product roadmaps, key performance goals, and strategic initiatives.
  • Supervise one or more Lifecycle Marketing Specialists in planning & executing campaigns across a variety of channels (esp. email and mobile push) including segmenting target audiences, orchestrating multi-channel journeys, and reporting on performance
  • Ideate & experiment on lifecycle strategies/tactics to drive activation, retention, engagement and cross-sell of users within Wealthsimple’s product ecosystem (eg. promotions, incentives)
  • Collaborate with data scientists & analysts to assess campaign and program performance; proactively surface data-informed opportunities for experimentation, personalization, or improvement; regularly report on program impact, client behaviours, and experimental results/learnings
  • Partner with lifecycle leadership to drive process improvements, create reusable playbooks, champion marketing automation best practices, and mentor & develop junior team members

  • Skills and experience we’re looking for
  • 5+ years experience in lifecycle marketing, marketing automation, or other strategic marketing roles; demonstrated experience independently leading strategic initiatives required, supervisory/management experience highly desired
  • Strong understanding of customer/lifecycle marketing strategies, email marketing best practices, leveraging & activating customer data, targeting & treatment personalization, strategic cohorting & audience segmentation
  • 3+ years hands-on experience using marketing automation tools/ESPs (e.g. Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Iterable, Sendgrid, etc.) required, experience implementing new marketing technology solutions a plus; demonstrated ability to adapt to new tools and processes rapidly
  • Solid analytical skill (e.g. Excel, Periscope, Tableau, Looker, etc.) to bring to bear on ambiguous data sets and environments, with the ability to independently form data-informed hypotheses and identify gaps in acquisition, activation, or retention funnel communications to be addressed in lifecycle channels
  • Thoughtful critical thinker with proven success in working with cross-functional teams (e.g. Marketing, Product, Creative, etc.) to define & solve business problems
  • Naturally collaborative and empathetic — both with colleagues and on behalf of clients
