Position Summary:
This position will be generally responsible for coordinating and supervising the defense of the Company against individual and class action claims initiated by consumers under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act and their state law counterparts.; representing the Company in defensive litigation and other legal proceedings involving the Company and its affiliates, by preparing and filing legal documents, discovery materials and pleadings; and providing guidance to the Company’s attorneys in support of such activities. This position functions under the direction of the Deputy General Counsel's team.Key Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
Implement and manage litigation work processes and monitor controls;
Assist in the handling and management of litigation against the company, including investigating merits of claims, negotiating and resolving claims and preparing necessary resolution documents;
Represent and defend the Company and its affiliates in courts of law; collect facts and evidence, try cases and perform other litigation tasks; Complete case preparation by preparing legal briefs, developing strategies, arguments and testimony;
Conduct relevant legal research, track case law and develop legal theories
Participate in decisions related to strategy of litigating claims;
Represent the Company at mediations, settlement conferences and certain hearings/trials
Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies across areas of organizational responsibility
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
Juris Doctor Degree required.
Current license to practice; multiple states preferred
A minimum of eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior litigation experience (including, without limitation, the preparation and drafting of pleadings, participation in all phases of the discovery process and handling of both jury and non-jury trials) is required.
Familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations related to consumer credit and collections, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Truth-in-Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
Ability to provide practical advice in a timely manner, able to discern and analyze the impact of multiple issues on a given situation, ability to work in several areas of the law and balance multiple priorities, and ability to provide sound business judgment.
Salary Range:
$118,000.00 - $188,000.00PRA Group has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, specific working location and market position. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and PRA Group reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications and location of the selected candidate. In addition to base salary, PRA may offer additional benefits to include performance based bonus programs and/or equity programs depending on the position.
