Summary of Role:

This role will be within the Infrastructure Solutions Delivery (ISD) organization at GlobalFoundries IT. The ISD organization's primary focus is on building, developing, and delivering infrastructure that effectively addresses business requirements and opportunities, while ensuring a robust, sustainable, and standardized platform for Operations to manage. 

The Cloud Engineer role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions within AWS. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in AWS infrastructure, cloud networking, cloud security, automation, Infrastructure-as-code, CICD, and low-level system design. This role will work closely with architects and our Design Engineering organization to deliver scalable, secure, compliant and efficient cloud solutions.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage cloud solutions across AWS to ensure they meet business requirements and opportunities. 

  • Collaborate closely with architects and the Design Engineering organization to deliver scalable, secure, compliant, and efficient cloud solutions. 

  • Work within a project group to transform and migrate on-premises services to AWS. 

  • Optimize cloud environments for performance, cost-efficiency, and security. 

  • Automate cloud processes using Infrastructure-as-code and CICD methodologies. 

  • Ensure cloud solutions adhere to relevant compliance and security standards. 

  • Design and implement Multi cloud solutions that leverage both AWS and Azure public cloud services. 

  • Develop and maintain cloud network architectures that optimize performance, security and cost saving design. 

  • AWS Services – Working knowledge but not limited to – EC2, RDS, Redshift, VPC, Route53, Serverless, AD DS, EMR, ECS, S3, FSx, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, AWS monitoring tools 

  • Mandatory Working knowledge on IAM Identity Center, AWS Control Tower 

  • Automate cloud deployments and operations to streamline workflows and reduce manual overhead (Proficiency in automation and scripting languages). 

  • Design, Implementation, Configuration and Development of the CICD solutions by using various cloud automation tools (Terraform,  Ansible, etc.) 

  • Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications. 

  • Provide expertise in cloud services, advising on best practices and emerging technologies. 

  • Strong understanding of cloud networking principles and hands-on experience with cloud network configuration and troubleshooting 

  • Working with internal and external partners, you will manage and improve existing CICD Tools, build new services and work closely with the support teams to ensure new services are transitioned to operations, stabilized & follow through service improvements. 

  • Familiar with Migration services to lift & shift, re-architect and re-design infrastructure solutions 

  • Remain customer/stakeholder focused - Ability to build strong relationships with Application teams, cross functional IT and global/local IT teams 

  • Operational effectiveness - delivers solutions that align to approved design patterns and security standards 

  • Windows and Linux Operating system knowledge 

  • Familiar with ITIL process / other organization processes 

  • Experience in internal and external audits / Governance fulfillment as per organization policies 

Other Responsibilities:

Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications 

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. 

  • 7+ years in cloud solutions delivery, cloud native software development, or platform engineering. 

  • Experience with DevOps tools and methodologies, such as CI/CD, Git, Jenkins, Ansible, etc. 

  • Experience with automation tools and Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform. 

  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols. 

  • Experience with FinOps, including cloud cost and financial model forecasting and cloud cost optimization strategies 

 

Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. 

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively. 

Expected Salary Range

$92,500.00 - $167,000.00

The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
