Summary:


The Video Editor is responsible for the day-to-day execution of editing video. This role is expected to develop powerful, compelling, and visually-dynamic animated and live action content, including but not limited to: instructional demos, animated explainers, and other high-impact video.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Edit demo, animation and podcast style video cuts in 2 cut rounds or less, not limited to visual editing, audio editing, 2D graphics creation, broadcast level audio mix and color correction, compositing, compressing, and encoding media according to current quality standards
  • Navigate complex, technical content and information and weave into a compelling visual narrative via demos and animations
  • Ingest footage, VO, and other media as needed
  • Create 2D motion graphics. Animate complex technical content to create easy to understand, visually dynamic output.
  • Implement notes from creative stakeholders in a timely fashion included but not limited to creative producers, content developers, and Sr. Director of Video Production
  • Watch down video cuts fully and repeatedly at each stage to ensure visual, audio, and proofing accuracy
  • Export final, approved cuts and place on DAM
  • When directed, implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency
  • Collaborate with internal and external editors and producers to ensure on-brand visual uniformity across video output


Key Performance Metrics:


  • Time spent on rework: 2 rounds of notes or less on demo (5 individual notes or less). No grammatical errors or mistakes that would be caught during proper watch downs
  • Time estimates: Complete 2-4 demos in a day. Complete a first cut animation in an average of 5 working days or less and 1 day on notes turn around to second cut
  • Follow video template adoption: Be able to consistently execute each video style - new and update demos, animation, podcast, etc. - directly in line with CompTIA’s current product video brand style and standards in a timely fashion (as detailed in time estimates)
  • 1-5 critical department-level imperatives on a quarterly basis. Imperatives can be a mix of quantitative, qualitative, project/initiative-based or personal and professional development areas


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Meticulous attention to detail as needed in ensuring final video assets are delivered at spec and archived correctly for future product releases
  • A successful candidate will bring strategic thinking and an artistic vision to the product team’s video content
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive in a team environment
  • Capable of working independently and fully executing video edits with minor oversight
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro and Apple Motion
  • Jira, MediaValet, Topaz Video AI, and Frame io experience HIGHLY preferred


Education and/or Experience:


  • Degree preferred but not required for the role
  • 5+ years of post-production experience, with at least 4+ years in motion graphics or animation heavy role(s)
