Job description

The Senior Sales Manager, USCA Industrial Coatings is a people-leader who works under the direction of the Sales Director of the Industrial Coatings business to drive profitable sales growth in the USCA region. You will drive a team of direct reports to defend and increase share of wallet at existing accounts while prospecting and closing new business. You will manage business objectives for sales, profitability, expense control and working capital. You will utilize available programs and systems to maintain visibility and progress on sales targets. The Senior Sales Manager will work in close cooperation with strategic account managers, other sales managers, technology centers, marketing, product management, customer service, technical service and other PPG staff critical to the success of this position.

Due to the nature of this role, you may be remote anywhere within the continental US within a reasonable commute of an International Airport.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for driving engagement, productivity and efficiency among their direct reports
  • Responsible for attaining sales growth targets established by the SBU by , managing the sales performance of their team members, both with regards to sales and profitability as well as behaviorally within the PPG Way to Lead and achieving volume commitments established by the department head.
  • Manage a portion of the sales staff to profitably grow the USCA Industrial Coatings business.
  • Develop and execute the business plan for the sales territory that aligns with the objectives of the business unit.
  • Utilize sales tools including value selling concepts.
  • Ensure the effective management of accounts/territories of direct reports and coordinate the activities of the supporting Technical Service team.
  • Oversee timely and accurate communications regarding customer requirements, business opportunities and issues.
  • Monitor and report market and competitor intelligence.
  • Invest a significant effort in developing a professional sales staff through coaching, mentoring and joint account visitation.
  • Support complexity reduction and business transformation initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Business, Chemistry, Engineering or similar; or equivalent combination of experience, training, and coatings industry knowledge.
  • 7+ years of experience in B2B sales related to industrial products, paints, coatings, or similar batch high-volume business sales.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a direct sales team.
  • Strong experience with organizational tools such as CRM, Salesforce, or similar and general experience utilizing Excel to create custom reports.
  • Travel 50% to meet with customers and regional sales representatives.
