Job Description:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage our financial transactions and ensure the accuracy of our company’s accounting records. The ideal candidate will be proficient in handling a range of bookkeeping tasks, comfortable with technology transitions, and possess the ability to adapt to new accounting software. Initially, the Bookkeeper will work with MYOB Advanced, but there is a potential move to Xero, requiring the individual to assist in this transition.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Invoicing:
- Generate, issue, and reconcile invoices for clients in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and manage accounts receivable.
2.Bank Reconciliation:
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure alignment between bank statements and company records.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during reconciliations.
3.Payroll Management:
- Conduct regular pay runs ensuring the timely and accurate processing of employee payments.
- Maintain employee records regarding financial responsibilities such as withholdings and benefits allocation.
4.End-of-Month Accounting:
- Prepare end-of-month financial reports, ensuring all financial transactions for the month are accurately recorded.
- Assist with budget preparations and financial forecasting.
5.End-of-Year Accounting:
- Collaborate with external accountants/auditors to prepare annual financial statements and tax filing.
- Conduct year-end closing processes, ensuring proper accounting procedures have been followed.
6.Software Transition Support:
- Participate in the evaluation and research of potential new accounting software.
- Contribute to the potential transition from MYOB Advanced to Xero, including training for staff and data migration.
Qualification and requirements (non-negotiable):
- 2-4 years of proven bookkeeping experience with a strong knowledge of accounting principles.
- Experience with MYOB Advanced is preferred; proficiency with Xero, or a willingness to learn, is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for communicating financial information to non-financial staff.
