GDIT’s Strategy and Performance Group (SPG) is looking for a versatile Communications Specialist associate professional to support an array of communications and outreach activities for multiple functional areas of a federal government organization. The successful candidate will work on a team of highly skilled professionals to accomplish a diversity of communications messaging and artifacts and welcome the chance to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, distributed work environment.

Communications Specialist:

GDIT’s Strategy and Performance Group (SPG) is looking for a versatile outreach and stakeholder engagement professional to support an array of outreach and readiness activities for multiple functional areas of a federal government organization. The successful candidate will work on a team of top-notch professionals to support creation and implementation of plans to assist end users in navigating system upgrades, with activities including in-person and virtual informational briefings, support call sessions and other engagement with field office staff and the external user community. The candidate also will welcome the chance to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, distributed-work environment.

  • Collaborate with technical staff to help translate requirements from complex concepts to technical language into content comprehendible by a general audience
  • Conceive and develop print and digital content for internal and external audiences
  • Prepare, edit, revise presentations, talking points, news articles and other documents
  • Prepare, edit, revise materials promoting and supporting external events that raise awareness for system users of technical enhancements to program capabilities
  • Execute quick-turn communications tasks or initiatives for senior leaders
  • Plan, write and edit content on deadline and to a high standard of quality
  • Plan, create and distribute outreach print and digital outreach materials to support outreach events
  • Manage and execute multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Develop and execute communications plans designed for specific initiatives
  • Adhere to standards and quality-assurance resources such as style guides and federal plain language requirements
  • Plan and facilitate meetings on various platforms (in-person, Webex, etc.) with cross-functional stakeholders


What you need to have ...

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Ability to obtain a Level 5 public trust clearance with background investigation
  • Editorial comms abilities (strong writing and editing skills, and publishing enterprise experience)
  • Strong attention-to-detail mindset
  • Ability to work independently, exhibiting accountability and ownership for assignments and work products
  • Ability to complete work products to a high standard of quality
  • Demonstrates initiative and eagerness to volunteer for assignments
  • Displays natural inclination to readily engage in brainstorming and troubleshooting exchanges
  • Natural team-oriented mindset, including willingness to readily and enthusiastically assist colleagues when needed
  • Experience working in government space
  • Excellent writing, editing and content development abilities
  • Extensive experience writing and editing on deadline for publication
  • Experience conceiving and developing content for print and digital platforms
  • Competency in use of standard office tools (e.g., MS Office suite, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Familiarity and experience adhering to common content standards and quality-assurance resources such as style guides and federal plain language requirements
  • Comfortability working on a distributed team while working remotely
  • Comfortability working in a fast-paced work environment with rapidly shifting priorities
  • Prior security clearance and government experience preferred.
  • Location: Remote (within the US), plus possible occasional travel for quarterly onsite at client site and outreach events
  • US Citizenship required

*Quarterly travel to Ashburn, VA, may be required, along with possible occasional travel to industry conferences.

The likely salary range for this position is $63,750 - $86,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
