What You'll Do:
  • Assist in implementing best practices for database management, ensuring optimal performance and high availability.
  • Continuously stay updated with emerging database trends, best practices, and automation technologies.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support database operations and enhancements.
  • Optimize database performance by analyzing queries, indexing strategies, and resource utilization.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to proactively detect and address database issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and business impact.
  • Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity.
  • Perform regular audits and compliance checks to meet security and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide timely support for database incidents.
  • Work across different time zones when required to support global teams

  • What You Will Bring to Coupa:
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in MySQL administration, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of MySQL internals, including replication, performance tuning, and query optimization.
  • Experience in cloud deployments, particularly AWS (RDS, Aurora); Azure or GCP experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in database security, backup strategies, recovery, and high availability solutions (e.g., Orchestrator, Failover Clusters).
  • Hands-on experience in setting up monitoring dashboards and alerts using tools like PMM, New Relic, or Vivid Cortex.
  • Basic scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Ruby to automate database tasks and operations.
  • Experience in troubleshooting query performance issues using EXPLAIN plans and indexing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of database schema design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Preferred Skills:
  • Basic exposure to PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
  • Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code database provisioning.
  • Experience using GitHub for version control and collaboration.
  • Exposure to configuration management tools like Chef/Puppet.
  • Relevant database certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty, MySQL DBA) would be an advantage.
