Ciena is seeking a Production-Led Art Director to sink their teeth into a rich growth opportunity. This Art Director role is an integral part of the Ciena Creative Team, responsible for translating internal clients’ needs into compelling creative solutions and omni-channel campaign assets driven by marketing and business objectives.

Reporting to the Associate Creative Director, you’ll partner with internal stakeholders and external agencies to support a wide variety of creative projects by developing designs, layouts and templates that align with Ciena’s brand standards. To be successful in this position, you’ll be an organized self-starter and supportive team player, capable of delivering high-level creative production with a keen attention to detail. Other technical duties expected include retouching images and closing pre-flighting of files for print.


Responsibilities:

  • Retouch and finalize (pre-flight) large image files for digital and print used across omni-channel campaign activations, including image color correction, color standardization, expanding crops, and adding/removing elements and objects in the composition.
  • Manipulate digital and print assets for advertising, infographics, social media graphics, environmental/display design, corporate presentations, and graphics for industry trade shows and events
  • Present creative assets to ACD and other key stakeholders for review/approval, and manage necessary revisions and feedback loops
  • Support the team in the overall creative production process
  • Research and source imagery from stock photo websites to support project needs
  • Help manage, organize, and grow the internal photo library
  • Drive consistent implementation of Ciena’s visual brand standards
  • Translate marketing requirements from creative briefs into a variety of creative assets
  • Create layouts using established templates and style sheets, and help develop the established templates and style sheets
  • Collaborate with the ACD to manage external vendors as needed
  • Troubleshoot problems with design software
  • Ensure that all deadlines are met
  • Consult with Creative Team and key stakeholders to streamline production processes and ensure design consistency across all deliverables
  • Performance of other duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Art Director on corporate or agency teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art direction, or related field
  • Possess advanced knowledge of core design principles, including layout, typography, color, composition, image retouch standardization, and current design trends
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD), Figma, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Ability to work in a Mac environment
  • Strong ability to solve creative problems and final production needs under tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects and deadlines at the same time
  • Works well as part of a team
  • A well-trained eye for visual composition and an attention to detail
  • Experience targeting B2B audiences, preferably in the technology industry is a plus
  • Ability to give and receive candid, constructive feedback
  • Strong verbal, writing, and presentation skills
  • Advanced English level is required (writing, speaking and understanding)
  • An online portfolio showcasing design work. Applications submitted without a portfolio will not be considered.

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is $68, 500 - $109, 500

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
