JOB SUMMARY:   The Livestock Specialist supports the Eocene Sustainability Division by facilitating livestock data entry and analysis, livestock project implementation, and grant verification and reporting. The role requires internal team collaboration and effective communication to provide the highest level of support to farms and clients in projects. This role will work in dairy, beef, poultry, and swine systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

  • Manage, evaluate, interpret, enter, and store agronomic and livestock production and nutrition data

  • Identify gaps in data collection and tracking at the farm level to assist producers in identifying solutions for continuous improvement

  • Identify opportunities for additional livestock quantification methods, assist with data formatting and analyzation

  • Support grant related projects by compiling relevant data for grant requirements, submitting verification documentation, and assisting with producer tracking for the project

  • Attend conferences/events and present at events as a technical expert representing the Sustainability Division of Eocene

  • Travel to farms to conduct site visits and meetings

  • Present communications and scientific explanations to various audiences

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings

  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental Group’s culture of safety and employee ownership

  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in livestock, nutrition, or related field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service focusing on rapport-building, listening, questioning and patience

  • Communicates effectively with all levels of employees and clients, both technical and non-technical

  • Excellent organizational skills and tendencies; strong attention to detail, and leadership skills

  • Experience with, or desire to learn, precision data platforms

  • Ability to provide recommendations based on knowledge of the operation and data collection

  • Ability to find and read NRCS guidelines and formulate recommendations based on guidelines

    • Familiar with USDA grant guidelines and requirements for data reporting

    • Familiar with NRCS standards for practice requirements

  • Ability to travel approximately once a quarter

  • Ability to work with a team of cross-functional experts in multiple locations

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products utilizing the latest operating system

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment

  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
