Job description

Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Director, Brand to join TR's Brand & Communications team! The Director, Brand will lead the creative vision and strategy that strengthens TR’s identity, amplifies its impact, and drives audience engagement. The Director, Brand will oversee brand storytelling, content creation, and digital engagement, ensuring a consistent and compelling presence across all platforms. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with experience managing high-performing teams and a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of how to craft and execute brand narratives that inspire action, build community, and support organizational growth. The Director, Brand will collaborate across teams to enhance TR’s visibility, deepen audience connections, and ensure alignment between brand initiatives and the organization’s mission.

Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization that is quickly becoming a household name in disaster response. This position reports to TR’s Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) and can be based remote anywhere within the United States.

Duties:

  • Serve as a senior leader for the Brand team, collaborating with the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to guide and shape an integrated brand strategy across all digital and traditional platforms.
  • Lead and manage the Brand team, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and professional development to ensure high performance and collaboration.
  • Oversee brand storytelling, ensuring alignment with TR’s mission and values across creative assets, digital platforms, and partner activations.
  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive brand identity that elevates TR’s market presence and mission impact.
  • Develop and manage content strategies that support audience growth, engagement, and brand affinity.
  • Drive social media strategy, optimizing content for audience expansion and deepening engagement.
  • Work across the Advancement team to foster collaboration, effective communication, and trust.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all marketing channels and organizational materials.
  • Collaborate with the strategic partnerships team to ideate and execute creative campaigns with corporate partners, maximizing brand visibility and social impact.
  • Provide TR field teams with branded assets, messaging strategies, and creative tools to enhance their communication efforts and engagement with local communities.
  • Manage external creative vendors, agencies, and production teams to enhance brand storytelling as needed.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to refine brand messaging, content strategies, and audience engagement tactics.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure brand assets effectively support fundraising, volunteer engagement, and operational initiatives.

Education and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in brand management, creative direction, or marketing
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • Proven ability to develop and execute brand strategies that drive engagement and growth
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of fostering high-performing teams
  • Deep experience in content creation, digital marketing, and social media strategy
  • Exceptional storytelling skills with a keen eye for design, video, and creative execution
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach
  • Experience managing external creative agencies and vendors

Special Requirements: 

  • This is a full-time; remote position and can be based anywhere within the United States and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (relocation expenses not provided)
  • Evening and weekend schedule supporting leadership meetings, video conferences, events, and operations
  • Required: This position requires up to 30% travel for site visits, conferences, and donor meetings

  • $101,164.00 - $172,438.80 per year
