Job description

Position Overview:

Working in a dynamic, collaborative team and reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is directly responsible for performing bank reconciliations, journal entries, handling invoices, assisting with the month-end close and any other monthly reporting requirements. The Senior Accountant is required to effectively communicate with other advisors and external auditors, play an active role in compliance related matters, and review documents and schedules applicable to the Company reporting process.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Month-end Close:
  • Accounting Processes and Procedures:
    • Partner with the Controller to update or build out accounting policies and procedures.
    • Assist the Controller with the research and documentation of technical accounting matters, including working with outside CPA firms if needed to draft technical accounting memos, and advise on updates to accounting guidance.
  • Perform month-end closing process, including preparation, and entering of journal entries.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and material P&L accounts for the corporate entity as part of the monthly close.
  • Responsible for recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
  • Coordinate completion of work with the outsourced project accountants, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner to ensure an on-time close.
  • Ensure consistent application of accounting recognition across all entities and in accordance with IFRS (and GAAP, if different, at the tax equity partnership).
  • Maintain appropriate supporting documents and schedules for all accounts.
  • Perform weekly bank settlements and reconciliations, ensuring all activity is captured in the financial system.
  • Assist with the monthly and quarterly consolidation and reporting.
  • Draft financial statements and appropriate footnotes.
  • Review financial statements for accuracy.
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors.
  • Manage office expenditures and administrative functions.
  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and accounts receivable are collected promptly.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in general ledger operations
  • Proficient in excel
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, or other related field
  • Outstanding analytical, quantitative, and technical abilities.
  • Hyper focused on the details.
  • Thrive working with a collaborative team.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with multiple and evolving priorities
  • Able to think critically and thrive in a dynamic, but sometimes abstract work environment
  • High level of personal integrity.
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Public Accounting experience required
