The Zscaler Engineer is responsible for developing and supporting the company’s Zscaler environment. This role involves monitoring the effectiveness of existing controls and identifying opportunities for improvement.

The ideal candidate will have subject matter expertise in using Zscaler for data loss prevention, a background in cybersecurity, and understanding of secure network operations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams.

This is a full-time, remote position with flexibility, though occasional meetings outside of core working hours may be required.

What a Zscaler Engineer (SME) does at HP:

  • Performs maintenance and support for existing Zscaler tools and develops integrations to enhance workflows and automation with other company technologies.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of HP’s Data Loss Prevention tools and methods by gathering requirements, proposing solutions, and implementing necessary changes.
  • Monitors policies and alerts for effectiveness and investigates potential misconfigurations to minimize false positives.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for processes and assists in preparing training materials, delivering training and mentoring as needed.
  • Collaborates with other teams to ensure smooth hand-offs and foster strong partnerships
  • Prepares and presents reports, identifying and communicating key insights and potential risks.
  • Monitors industry cybersecurity threats, best practices, regulatory changes, corporate updates, and geopolitical developments that impact security.
  • Advises on improvements to data handling procedures and implements strong governance practices.

Individuals who thrive in this role at HP typically have:

  • 8–10 years of experience in configuring, administering, troubleshooting, and using Zscaler technologies for data loss prevention.
  • Proven success in implementing automated processes and building integrations with Zscaler and other common technologies, such as ServiceNow and BigID.
  • Relevant Zscaler certifications preferred; technical security/networking certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNA Security) are a plus.
  • Results-driven with strong analytical skills and the ability to connect the dots for better decision-making.
  • Fluent in English, with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective team player with the ability to collaborate across various organizational levels and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong responsiveness, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proactive and creative in identifying and resolving problems.

About the team:

The Cybersecurity Data Loss Prevention team is a developing group of cyber security professionals who collaborate with all disciplines within Cybersecurity as well as business and functional stakeholders as trusted advisors to effectively manage cyber security risks to the business.
