Job description

This is a remote, home-based internship. Full time students from all US geographies will be considered. Our 2025 Summer internship program is an 8-week Paid Internship that runs from June 2nd – July 25th, at 37.5 hours weekly. The program will join interns across the country who are supporting different department focuses on American Cancer Society and ACS's Cancer Action Network. 80% of the time will be in working within the given department, with the Intern's manager, their mentor, and the team. The other 20% will be with a cohort of other interns around American Cancer Society and ACS CAN.

The ACS Center for Diversity in Cancer Research Training is seeking a summer intern focused on building out theory and evidence-based health communication strategies and content for the Center. In collaboration with staff, the health communication intern will:

  • Utilize Center qualitative data to create opportunities for storytelling about our grantees.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications staff to align marketing goals with content creation.
  • Develop diverse marketing content utilizing Canva focusing on trainee accomplishments and background, the importance of diversity in the cancer research workforce, national awareness campaigns, and other content that aligns with the goals of the Center.
  • Use mixed-media strategies, where applicable, to create relevant content for a variety of audiences, including but not limited to, national meetings, PI’s, high school students, undergraduate students, post-baccalaureate fellows, professors, etc.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be available for entirety of 8-week program: June 2 – July 25, 2025, at 37.5 hours per week.
  • Full-time student, if you are an undergraduate student, you have completed your freshman year of college.
  • Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale).
  • Plan to continue your education in the following term/semester.
  • Upload a resume upon application submission.
  • Note: an internship assignment may coincide with your last term/trimester as a full-time student, but the internship must be disengaged upon graduation.

The starting rate is $15 to $17. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
