We are seeking an Operations Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the financial services industry, supporting our operations team with critical tasks related to portfolio accounting, data quality, and document retention. Key takeaways from this role include developing expertise in operations, enhancing organizational and communication skills, and gaining practical knowledge of portfolio accounting systems. This position is ideal for students aspiring to build a career in operations within the financial services industry.

Primary Job Functions

Portfolio Accounting Data Entry

  • Data entry in portfolio accounting system to support new client accounts and maintenance of existing relationships
  • Resolve outstanding tasks in CRM systems
  • Process requests for system access for internal users and portfolio accounting portal

Support data quality audits and reviews

  • Perform data quality audits in various software to determine if data is inaccurate or outdated
  • Partner with Operations team and other department team members as needed to collect accurate, up-to-date information for data quality audit
  • Correct inaccurate or outdated information in various software
  • Use Microsoft Excel to track status of data quality audit
  • Present findings to Operations team and recommend an action plan to ensure data accuracy moving forward

Assist with the document retention and mailroom processes

  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail deliveries
  • Support the team with ad hoc projects relating to office management, report generation, and administration
  • Miscellaneous preparation of documents, organizing of client files, scanning, email and phone communication, and use of technology

Education/Qualifications

  • Preferably Pursuing bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics.
  • Preferably students between their junior and senior years
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • Detail oriented, highly organized and adaptable
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

WEG hires employees and makes decisions about their salary qualifications based on factors such as: the role to be performed; educational and professional experience, qualifications, skills and credentials; tenure, cost-of-living and demand for the role in the applicable market. Thus, the entire salary range for those who are classified as the Intern level is $34,309 to $52,983.
