Job description

Overview

Terraform has redefined how infrastructure is provisioned and managed, but visibility and discovery remain critical challenges for organizations operating at scale. Terraform is expanding in its workflows to enable better management of both managed and unmanaged infrastructure.

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead and define this effort creating workflows that allow organizations to discover, assess, and integrate infrastructure into Terraform.

You will define new workflows, build innovative discovery experiences, and shape how Terraform evolves to manage infrastructure

Responsibilities
  • Product Strategy and Vision:
    • Define and execute the strategy for this space, creating workflows for resource discovery at scale.
    • Work closely with Terraform teams to integrate new workflows into existing infrastructure management workflows
Workflow and Experience Design:
    • Design first-class search experiences that help teams query, discover, and assess their infrastructure at scale.
Roadmap Prioritization and Delivery
    • Own and manage the roadmap, prioritizing high-impact features that improve resource discovery and infrastructure governance.
    • Develop and maintain Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and collaborate with engineering to bring this new workflow to life.
  • Go-to-Market Support:
    • Collaborate with marketing, sales, and support teams to position this effort as standard for infrastructure discovery and compliance.
    • Engage with Terraform practitioners and enterprise customers to iterate and refine search workflows based on real-world infrastructure challenges.
Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of product management experience with developer tools, infrastructure automation, cloud security, or observability platforms.
  • Strong technical understanding of Terraform, Infrastructure-as-Code, and Cloud Resource Management (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Ideally, experience with search, indexing, and real-time infrastructure discovery workflows.
  • Strong technical acumen with a focus on building real-time search experiences and automation-driven workflows.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, security, and operations) to build search-driven infrastructure tools.
Attributes We Look For in Product Managers at HashiCorp
  • Humility: You listen to understand and collaborate effectively, recognizing the importance of community and teamwork.
  • Curiosity: You’re constantly exploring new ways to improve workflows and deliver value to both open-source users and enterprise customers.
  • Ownership: You take responsibility for driving product success, balancing immediate needs with long-term strategic vision.
  • Clear Communication: You have the ability to explain complex ideas simply and effectively, ensuring alignment across teams and stakeholders.
  • Reflective: You embrace feedback and seek continuous improvement in your work and the products you manage.
Skills You Will Practice as a Product Manager at HashiCorp
  • Defining the product roadmap and strategy for a new category of Terraform workflows.
  • Collaborating with engineering and design to create seamless search and discovery tooling for infrastructure management.
  • Conducting customer research to understand how teams discover and manage infrastructure across environments.
  • Developing real-time search workflows that integrate with Terraform Cloud and other operational platforms.
  • Managing a product backlog to deliver impactful features.
  • Collaborating with engineering and design to enhance workflows and create commercial differentiation for enterprise customers.
  • Driving adoption and engagement by enabling enterprises to search, classify, and manage infrastructure at scale
  • Enabling go-to-market teams (sales, support, marketing) with product insights, messaging, and competitive differentiation.
Why HCP Terraform?

Terraform has revolutionized infrastructure provisioning, but organizations still struggle with visibility into their infrastructure. Unmanaged resources, configuration drift, and compliance gaps create risk and inefficiency at scale.

By leading this initiative, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Terraform as a full-lifecycle infrastructure management tool.

This is your opportunity to define the next evolution of Terraform workflows—moving beyond provisioning to proactive infrastructure management.
