Job Summary

The Manager of Competitive Intelligence, Insurance is responsible for managing and building Porch Insurance’s use of competitive information as we drive profitable growth.  This will require the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) and other tools for cognitive, prescriptive and predictive analytics that will drive best-in-class insights and decision-making processes. 

This role requires a creative and dynamic collaborator that can leverage their deep understanding of personal insurance, competitive analytics, and data to drive a vision of best-in-class competitive insights and decision-making processes. 


What You Will Do As A Manager of Competitive Intelligence, Insurance

Competitive Analytics

  • Develop and refine a competitive intelligence roadmap that achieves cognitive analytics through AI and predictive analytics

  • Embed competitive analytics within existing and developing processes in order to improve the speed of decisions and communications for product, pricing and sales utilization.

  • Support the development of new products and pricing structures

  • Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of competitive analytics in both pricing and product decisions

  • Establish competitive best practices for new state and market entry

  • Integrate competitive trends to refine and improve financial forecasting

Data and Reporting

  • Establish critical competitive analytics databases for structured data (comparative raters, manufactured rating, and consumer self-reported rates) and unstructured data (filings, media, agency feedback)

  • Ensure competitive information is integrated with other critical company that will drive better and faster decisions

  • Develop AI Alerts for early market movement to be leveraged in business actions 

  • Recommend KPIs and metrics to improve business performance 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Work closely with product managers, actuarial, sales, underwriting, and technology to develop solutions and advance decisions processes leveraging competitive intelligence.

  • Analyze and understand key competitors and competitor strategies.  Share and utilize this information to develop effective initiatives with organization partners 

  • Develop holistic solutions for capturing sharing competitive information, developing keen insights through insights across the organization

Lead Others

  • Lead a team in achieving organizational goals

  • Develop team members and support the development of product analysts

What You Will Bring As A Manager of Competitive Intelligence, Insurance

  • Bachelor’s degree; Economics, Business, Data Science, Finance, Actuarial or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in analytics, product management, data science, actuarial, related roles within the insurance industry (minimum 5+ in personal lines insurance).  

  • Proven track record of successful analytics program launches and strategic initiatives. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in using data to drive strategic decisions. 

  • Deep understanding of personal lines insurance, including trends, regulations, and competitive landscape. 

  • Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to inspire and drive cross-functional teams towards common goals. 

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to translate complex issues clearly to partners and stakeholders. 

  • Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement. 

  • Financial Acumen. 

  • Customer Focus.

What You Will Get As A Porch Group Team Member 

Pay Range*: $134,300.00 - $196,900.00

*Please know your actual pay at Porch will reflect a number of factors among which are your work experience and skillsets, job-related knowledge, alignment with market and our Porch employees, as well as your geographic location.  
 
Additionally, you will be eligible to receive long-term incentive awards, subject to program guidelines and approvals.
