We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team! In this role, you'll drive the month-end and year-end financial close, prepare accurate financial reports for the company and board, and ensure accuracy and efficiency in all accounting tasks. You'll take charge of the annual financial audit, and assist in the corporate tax return preparation. Additionally, you’ll help improve reporting systems, and apply your accounting expertise to business activities. Please note, this role is a maternity leave cover and is a 18-month fixed term position, with possibility for extension. Candidates in the PST or MST time zone will be preferred.
What You Will Do:Drive month-end and year-end close and respective reporting including supporting other team members in month-end tasks as necessaryUse a strong understanding of TE financial statements, drivers, cash flow, profits and high attention to detail to analyze financial performance against budget and forecastsDrive the annual financial audit and assist with reconciliation of ASPE to US GAAP; Apply accounting principles to business activities, identify solutions and escalate issues to appropriate level to drive resolution.Provide support to the VP, Finance in preparing investor and lender reporting, dashboards, annual budgets and forecasts to enable decision-makingEnsure accuracy and efficiency in all accounting tasks by reviewing existing processes and providing recommendations for improvements. Improve current reporting systems which includes making recommendations to the VP, Finance on sourcing and presentation of data and metricsCollaborates with Finance and other cross-functional teams (i.e. RevOps, People, Legal) to identify financial issues, generate solutions and understand impactsDemonstrate high proficiency as a superuser in accounting/finance systems and tools (i.e. Sage Intacct, BambooHR, Shareworks) and document system task processes and workarounds; administer and work in more complex finance systems. Assist with Employee Shares & Options and Corporate TaxesProactively determine own work schedule with guidance from VP Finance; identifies potential workload issues and effectively prioritizes to meet all financial and compliance deadlines Guide/mentor other junior accountants within team to share best practices and adviceDemonstrate exemplary professional behaviour in role and can identify sensitive ethical situations and seek guidance where necessary.
