What You'll Do
As a Senior Quality Software Engineer at Vial, you will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling the technology that powers our clinical trials platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness in drug development. We are looking for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, take ownership of their work, and are passionate about leveraging technology to transform biotech.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner with developers, product managers, and technical teams to grasp system functionalities, pinpoint testable criteria, and address issues promptly.
- Design, implement, and upkeep detailed test strategies, test cases, and scripts to verify the software’s functionality, performance, and regulatory adherence.
- Conduct both manual and automated testing (e.g., functional, integration, regression, system testing) to ensure compliance with software specifications, risk evaluations, and quality benchmarks.
- Propose and apply enhancements to testing procedures, methods, and tools (e.g., automated testing frameworks, quality metrics analysis) to boost software quality and team efficacy.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Assessment
- Ensure all testing aligns with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11).
- Stay informed on data privacy and security guidelines (e.g., HIPAA, SOC II, GDPR) to meet compliance requirements.
- Develop and manage traceability matrices that connect test cases to software requirements, risk assessments, and design elements.
- Assist in preparing documentation for design evaluations, regulatory submissions, and audits.
- Review automated tests created by engineers to ensure they meet quality standards and comprehensively cover the functional requirements specifications.
Who You Are
- Over 3 years of experience in software quality engineering.
- Proven ability to create clear, concise, and thorough test plans and test cases for software verification and validation.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and familiarity with automated testing tools/frameworks, specifically Cypress, Postman, jest.
- At least 1 year of experience with Cypress is required.
- Experience with the software development lifecycle and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Linear).
- Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub) and CI/CD processes.
- Experience in regulated environments (e.g., medical device software) is a huge plus.
