The Data Steward will have strong expertise in managing and governance of data across the organization. The Data Steward will coordinate the day-to-day management of the organizations data quality, security, reliability, and general maintenance of data. The Data Steward is responsible for defining data elements across multiple systems and establishing policies and procedures related to the collection and accuracy of data.
The Data Steward will play a critical role in ensuring that data governance policies and procedures are implemented effectively across the organization. The Data Steward will play a primary role on the data governance committee, and involved in help defining data lifecycle management, cataloging, and data integrity.
The role requires a range of both technical and business-oriented skills, including programming and data modeling, as well as acumen in domains such as data warehousing and storage concepts and enterprise strategy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Implement and enforce data quality standards and procedures.
- Monitor data quality metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with data owners and stakeholders to resolve data quality issues.
- Develop and maintain data governance policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements.
- Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations such as PCI, SOX.
- Monitor access controls and permissions to safeguard data integrity.
- Maintain metadata repositories and data dictionaries.
- Document data lineage, definitions, and business rules.
- Facilitate metadata discovery and data cataloging efforts.
- Oversee the lifecycle of data from creation to archival or deletion.
- Develop data retention policies and procedures.
- Coordinate data archiving and purging activities as necessary.
- Support data integration initiatives and ensure data consistency across systems.
- Collaborate with IT teams to establish master data management processes.
- Identify opportunities for data consolidation and standardization.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of Informatica IDMC master data management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in either Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics or Business Analytics experience in a similar role.
- General knowledge of financial services industry; experience with banking, loans, portfolio analysis and credit card processing a plus.
- Strong data analysis and data integration abilities which involves moving, cleansing, and transforming large amount of data between multiple systems.
- Ensure data quality through creation of audit controls, proactive monitoring, and data cleansing techniques.
- Several years of experience as a data steward, data quality analyst, or business analyst.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- In-depth knowledge of data modeling, data integration, data configuration and general database concepts.
- Strong sense of issue ownership and accountability and be able to find their way around complex systems.
- Individual must be able to work independently while a part of larger project team including internal and external resources and is expected to keep management up to date with current written and verbal status reports.
- Adept at developing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement, to increase overall efficiency and quality.
